The issue came the next day when I went to reheat the other half of my Italian sub. I had stored it properly in the box it came in and placed it in the fridge. It was never removed from that box. When I got home from work (I work third shift), I took it out for lunch. I removed the veggies and put them on a white plate so I could heat up the meat, cheese, and bread on a separate plate. After heating, I went to put the veggies back on the sandwich and noticed fine black hairs on the white plate. That’s obviously unacceptable.
I called their customer service line and was told I had to bring the sub, which was already in the trash, to the store in order to get a replacement. That’s not only unreasonable but pretty poor customer service, especially from a company that should value loyal customers.
Eventually, I spoke with a manager who was kind and patient, and she did issue me a credit. However, she mentioned that this “bring the food in” policy has been in place as long as she’s worked there since 2008. That’s odd because I’ve had order issues in the past and was never asked to do that. It felt inconsistent and made me feel like I wasn’t being believed even after I offered to show them a photo.
On top of all that, their prices are steep. Over $21 for a three-topping thin crust pizza with skimpy toppings and cheese. When you’re paying that much, you expect your food to be clean and the customer service to reflect that. Unfortunately, this experience didn’t meet either standard.

“No, a restaurant generally cannot require you to return the incorrect food before issuing a refund if they made the mistake, as you are owed what you paid for, and they are responsible for correcting their error. In situations involving takeout or delivery, it is often best to contact the restaurant or delivery service to resolve the issue, and they may let you keep the food while providing a refund or sending the correct order.
For in-person dining:
Communicate immediately: Inform your server as soon as you notice the order is incorrect.
Request the correct order: You are entitled to receive the meal you ordered.
Expect a resolution: The restaurant should provide a replacement or a refund. They generally cannot force you to bring the food back to the kitchen in this scenario, especially if it’s for issues like being undercooked or containing a missed ingredient. “
On Thursday 10/9/25 I ordered a pickup for the family. I called in at 7:10 they said it would be ready on 20 min. I got there at 7:30 (20 min after I already ordered) they said it was gonna be another 5 min, not a big deal at al. I then proceeded to wait 30 more minutes for my pizza to be ready. I eventually left with my pizza at 7:55 (45 min after I called in for a pickup order. I got home and they gave me the wrong pizza. I went back and asked if I could get a refund they said no problem then asked for my name. They find my pizza in the hot box and ask if I want it still but I just wanted a refund at this point. She explains she has to call the call center to process the refund which I find kind of odd but I guess companies do things differently. I waited for her to come back out and she told me the refund was processed but let me know I would not be getting a refund for my Dr. Pepper. Which I didn’t bring the DR Pepper back so obviously I wasn’t expecting a refund on something I didn’t bring back. That comment did not need to be made. I guess I’m just kind of shocked with how I was treated being a regular customer. This location is really going downhill and I won’t be ordering from here from now on or any other Cassano’s location.
