We went to dinner on a Thursday night so it was fairly empty. I went for a burger but they were taken off the menu. Sandwiches were good, but the homemade fries are excellent. The bartender/waiter was super friendly, informative, energetic and all around great.

Stopped by Cascade Locks Ale House on a Saturday for lunch with my motorcycle club. We arrived at 11:45 but the restaurant didn’t open until noon (not their fault… we should have done our research). The first thing to know is that they have a very small gravel parking area in the back. If you don’t want to park on gravel or the lot is full, you have to hope to find parking on the street. The ambiance inside is pub style with a lot of wood. It was clean and tidy.

I had the salmon chowder at the insistence of my friend and I was not disappointed at all. It was very thick and creamy. I felt like I was eating the chowder from a high end restaurant. Perfect place to stop after a day in the Columbia River Gorge.

We stopped in for lunch… they have great burgers… and have a vegan and veggie options as well… I got the chicken and let the server chose my beer.. she did a fantastic job… price was about right for 2 drinks 2 entrees and an appetizer… it was a bit slow for lunch but it was raining cats and dogs out… the waitstaff was very timely and took advantage of being less busy by providing great table talk and being attentive… haven’t had a quality conversation about Biodome the movie in a long time … we will eat here again next time we are in town!

7/2023. Mediocre food at best. Service was TERRIBLE. I have been coming to this place for years on my way back and forth from the gorge. Haven’t been here since the new owners. It is again for sale. I hope if/when it sells it comes back as the great spot it used to be. George is not a good server at all. Waited 15 minutes for him to come to my table (the place was empty except for two people at the bar. Took another 15/20 minutes to get my drink. Never did come to my table once I got my appetizer. Had to go to the counter to pay as server never came back. Saw two customers leave before they even got their order because server was preoccupied by bar patrons. Please please someone buy this place and out it out of its current misery.

Great food! If you are a PCT hiker, ask for the hiker trash burger. Huge burger where they use personal pepperoni pizzas as the bun. They generally make these when they are busy, but feel free to ask, it is amazing!!

We saw this place on our way through town to The Dalles and thought it looked like a place we should stop but they were closed. Several days later we were headed back home and were staying just across the street so we stopped in for dinner – so glad we did! The Salmon Chowder is amazing! We really liked the sandwiches we ordered too, especially the sweet spicy flavor of the Caribbean Chicken one. Service was great too. It is a bar style atmosphere, a little dark inside, so if that isn’t your thing this might not be your place. Overall we really enjoyed it and we will visit again soon!

Very over priced. I got the hikertrash burger, a beer, and the total was 31$. Ordering food was very chaotic and disorganized. The staff also demanded we sit outside on a chilly evening even when there was plenty of space inside. Food was good though if you can stomach the prices. I can’t imagine charging 25$ for a burger and it not even coming with fries! If you like saving money get food and beer at the market across the street.
