The shawarma platter is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The meat is always seasoned beautifully, tender, and cooked just right with that perfect balance of flavor and texture. It’s never dry, never bland, and every bite tastes fresh and intentional. The rice is fluffy and flavorful, the hummus is smooth and rich, and the pita is warm and soft. The whole plate comes together in a way that feels comforting but still exciting every single time. It’s honestly my favorite meal, not just in Memphis, but anywhere.
What really makes Casablanca stand out though is the people. The staff is consistently kind, welcoming, and genuinely sweet. You never feel rushed. You feel appreciated. They treat you like you matter, and that kind of hospitality sticks with you. Over the years, going back for birthdays has made it feel even more personal, like I’m celebrating somewhere that actually cares about its customers.
East Memphis is lucky to have this place. Great food is one thing, but when you combine incredible flavor, consistency, and warm service, it becomes something special. Casablanca will always have a place in my birthday tradition, and I cannot recommend it enough. If you have not tried the shawarma platter yet, you are seriously missing out.
What I also love about Casablanca is how generous the portions are. Every time that platter comes out, it is loaded. It never feels skimpy or thrown together. The presentation is always clean and colorful, and you can tell everything was prepared fresh. The sauces especially deserve attention. The garlic sauce has that bold, creamy kick that ties the whole plate together, and when you drizzle it over the shawarma and rice, it takes it to another level.
The flavors are layered in a way that keeps every bite interesting. The spices are balanced perfectly. Nothing overpowers anything else. It is savory, slightly smoky, fresh, and comforting all at the same time. Even the little details, like the crispness of the vegetables and the warmth of the bread, make a difference. It is one of those meals where you slow down because you do not want it to end.
Another thing that stands out is how consistent the atmosphere is. It always feels relaxed and welcoming. Whether it is busy or quiet, the energy stays the same. It is the kind of place where you can sit and actually enjoy your meal without feeling rushed out the door.
Over the years, going there for my birthday has made it more meaningful. It is not just about the food, even though the food is incredible. It is about the experience. It is about knowing that when I sit down and order that shawarma platter, I am about to have my favorite meal exactly the way I love it. That kind of reliability is rare.
There are a lot of good restaurants in Memphis, but Casablanca has become personal for me. It is comfort food, celebration food, and my go to meal all in one. Every birthday, same order, same satisfaction. That says everything.
If you want, I can also give you a shorter “add-on paragraph” version that blends seamlessly into what you already posted.
We were quickly seated and ordered right away, our food took no more than 10-15 minutes and came out fresh and hot. Lots of restaurants tend to cut corners when they take customers in last minute but that was not the case here. The food was exceptional and not what we were expecting at all from a place with such a small muslim population.
Although we were the only people left dining in, the ambiance and overall decor and vibe of the place was amazing, can only imagine how lively the weekends must be.
We ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich, an eggplant parmesan sandwich, and kabab plate for dine in and asked for a chicken shawarma sandwich to go as well as the tea. everything was flavorful and 9/10
I was heavily impressed by the way our to go order was packed. They gave us large cups of tea and stacked everything really nicely in their custom tote bag for easy carry to our hotel. We were not rushed at all during our visit and are really happy with the way they accommodated us even 30 mins past closing.
Would definitely stop here again not just for the food, but some of the greatest hospitality I have received at a restaurant in a long time.
For an appetizer I had the hummus with pita and chips and for my meal I had the Big Mac.
Last week was our 1st time bringing the kids and they enjoyed it also.
