I recently visited with high hopes of enjoying an authentic Jamaican patty, but unfortunately, my experience was a letdown. The moment I walked in, I noticed a swarm of flies buzzing around the food, which was a major red flag.
I ordered the patty, but it failed to impress. The dough was excessively thick and overpowered the filling, making it difficult to enjoy. To make matters worse, the flavor and texture were far from the authentic Jamaican patty I’m familiar with.
The price was also steep, considering the subpar quality. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn’t recommend to anyone seeking a genuine Jamaican patty experience.
*Rating:* 1/5 stars
*Recommendation:* Improve food handling and preparation to ensure a clean and authentic dining experience. Revise the recipe to achieve a more traditional Jamaican patty taste and texture.
I got the lamb and chicken over rice and it also comes with some vegetables (pictured below). Overall, it was a good amount of food and it filled my hungry self up. Cost was around $15-16, which is alright. Something that I’m not a fan of is that drinks are $2.25 each and that there are not water cups.
Service was solid – the guy behind counter seemed to be pretty chill.
Overall, you get some very solid food for a solid price but you can find better. One good thing is that this place is halal (at least according to my Muslim friends) which I know is important for some people.
Amazing halal pizzeria in Ithaca! Highly recommend!! Loved that halal is very clearly stated in the menu too
Food:
I got a pepperoni calzone and it was absolutely amazing. Perfectly balanced between the meat, cheese, and bread. It hit the spot. I’m actually craving it right now just writing this review
Service:
The owner is a very friendly Moroccan guy. The place was packed on a Thursday night and he told everyone up front it was going to be a little longer getting the food. Thankfully it was worth the wait. The inside of the restaurant is a dated diner vibe.
Price:
Price was very fair. It’s near Cornell so it’s definitely in a college students budget.
