We were on a walk and felt the craving for a a California burrito, this was it. Everything about the burrito was on point, ratios, taste. All three salsas were also amazing, plus their staff were super friendly. I definitely put this on my favorite burrito list.

Tamales here are the best! My husband doesn’t normally like tamales, but we ended up ordering an extra plate because he ate most of mine . Really friendly service and you get a small bowl of chips and salsa! There’s also patio-like seating in the back, high chairs, and a restroom available for customers. It was a comfy place to have lunch on a sunny day in April!

Found this place on yelp and it did not disappoint. We’ve been back twice and will definitely come back again. This is a restaurant with actual seating, but we took our meals to go. There staff is nice, works fast and very friendly. The food is really good; the hubby always gets a big burrito and I always get tacos. Both are accompanied by fresh tortilla chips and a variety of salsas. If you are looking for some authentic Mexican food, look no further.

The quesabirria is very good but you can definitely get better around here. They don’t serve it with consume just salsa. The meat has been very tender the two times I’ve had it and it has a good amount of cheese. It lacks on onions and cilantro so doesn’t have that burst of bright fresh flavor. The salsa is really good. I’ve only ordered from doordash but everything comes hot and fresh. I didn’t care for the al pastor tacos. Meat wasn’t super flavorful or tender. The sauce was too spicy and not fruity at all. Horchata is always really good

I sadly have to come back now, about a year after my original 5-star review, and revise to 3-stars (2 stars for food, and 4 stars for staff and service). At that time, Casa Rossy had just opened and it was such a welcome competitor to Manuels which I’d always found excruciatingly mediocre and expensive.

We have a place less than 3 blocks away, so we’ve eaten at Rossy a lot (I always get take-away) and unfortunately, their quality has taken a real nosedive over the last 6 months. I guess the last straw was yesterday’s order of shrimp al mojo de ajo. One taste (and smell) and I knew the garlic was from a jar (it has that distinct citric acid preservative taste) which really ruins the dish. We also got an order of shrimp a la diabla; it was also mediocre and one-dimensional.

This morning, we got Huevos rancheros and and breakfast burrito both with bacon. The bacon was awful: undercooked and rubbery with minimal salt or smoke taste. I was able to pick mine off and just eat the Huevos (which was OK, 3 of 5 stars) but it was much harder to do the same in the burrito and much of that was wasted. FWIW, my wife said if it weren’t for the bacon the burrito would have been good and she’d give them another chance.

Overall I have give the food 2 stars.

I do want to say service has remained super friendly and I really like the staff; I’d give service 4- to 5 stars and that’s reflected in my overall 3-star review.

Given how close we are, I’ll probably still try them from time to time and hope they get past this rough spot but I’ll be going to El Chipotle for dinner for the foreseeable future. Original review below.

Casa Rossy opened about 5 months ago. I’ve now tried them twice two days in a row and I’m super psyched to report that they are excellent. It’s so great to finally have excellent Mexican in the hood!!

Prawn super burrito: good size, delicious fillings, guac was included in the price. I always get half rice so it was kinda juicy but I don’t mind it that way. Prawns were a tad overcooked for my taste but they weren’t outright dry. Just not as moist as perfectly cooked is gonna be.

Super carne assada quesadilla: my wife had this. She wasn’t thrilled with it as it turned out the sourcream, guac and salsa were all on the side so she reported it was kinda dry. I tried a bit of the carne and thought it was tasty.

Shrimp a la Diabla – This is one of my favorite dishes so was excited to see it on the menu. Star of the show. So good. Very spicy (I love spicy), smokey, savory sauce. Guac/salsa/sourcream/tortillas all served on the side as I would expect. Shrimp was (again) cooked a tad over for me but just fine. I’ll be getting this again (and again and again).

Horchata – Hilariously, this was the “small” size (see picture). The godzilla sized cup, was what, 32oz? I found it overly sweet but otherwise great. Probably won’t get again due to sweetness (that said I think this is typical of horchata). It’s still sitting in my fridge. I occasionally will take a sip. It’s working out that way.

Overall I’m thrilled to have this new Mexican restaurant in the ‘hood. I used to have to drive into Capitola for good Mexican, but no more.

I’ve ordered here many times. As of late the quality has not been the same. I used to love the quesa barilla. Today it was not cooked/crispy as in the past and bland. I also ordered the shrimp and fish tacos. The shrimp was Costco coconut shrimp! Weird combo and not what I expected. And the fish was bad tasting. Neither were fresh or well prepared. Also the rice and beans (pinto now instead of refried) seemed straight from the can and not well seasoned or cooked. Also- no chips with our order. I feel like I could have done better at home by ourselves. I hope this is a one off. But it’s going to be hard to go back there with the tastes left in my mouth. I will say the salsa was good. But no chips!

Family Hanly
Family own business. Was a family favorite, but the last couple of times, my order was incorrect and missing items. The owner is nice and was our initial first experience, which was great. Unfortunately, the last several times as they put it “well he’s not here now.” The person who worked the last few times was rude, not accommodating at all, would not substitute salsa for pico de gello, was rude when I asked for extra salsa and didn’t even give an option to purchase extra. On doordash, they didn’t give the salsa ordered, and both times, in person and online order, they forgot my drink I purchased.

Additionally, I specified I was picking up an order for my son and I separate, yet the three tacos were on one plate. For $40 plus a tip, one would think to treat a customer with consideration. It’s a shame the owner isn’t there all the time because he’s a great cook and seems like a nice guy. I still need to drive all the way back to get the Horchata drink missing from my order, but unless I find out the owners schedule and return only when he’s there, I think this place is no longer worth it. After a long day of work, I didn’t need someone waiving their fingers at me, forgetting my order, refusing requests, and giving me grief. Seriously, I drove 20 minutes to get there for that. NO
Now, I need to drive back for missing item…shame

We got our food to go. We got shrimp tacos and the nachos with birria. Both were insanely good. The shrimp tacos were one of the best I’ve ever had

This was a great find! I loved the courtyard in the back. I had the veggie burrito without dairy (vegan). The fajita style veggies, black beans, ride and guacamole wrapped up in a grilled spinach tortilla was super fresh and tasty. I’ll be back!
