Well, my hometown used to have a casa ole, and I was feeling nostalgic. I came in, its a bit run down, not terrible but noticable. Im the only one in the lobby at this time. The hostess was behind the desk on the phone and did not acknowledge me for 10 minutes until I asked “am I just suppsed to sit down?” She said no hung up and took me over to a table. About 10 minutes later a girl approaches and asks how long Id been there. I am speculative here but I think this falls back on said hostess, as for the duration the waitress was very attentive. My table was very sticky. The food was good and came out in a reasonable amount of time. The sweet tea had not spoiled. It was not a terrible experience but I would say to the franchise owner, may be time for a light remodel and a staff quality purge.

We got there at 12 was served 4 baskets and 6 salsa’s (1 per person) however we were all like OHhhh WOW!! We don’t see that often……then after waiting an hour for our food we then realized WHYYY your served so many chips so you can eat while you wait along time. There was only a few servers as if they were short handed. Idk. By the time the food came out it was cold. Not just mine but everybody’s was cold and the queso on mine tasted tingy as if it was old. (When we mentioned our “cold” food to the waitress she said “well that’s why I bring yall so much chips and salsa so yall have something while yall wait”) instead of saying im so sorry let me see what i can do, however after waiting an hour for the food i wasnt about to wait another hour.

Fajita taco sald has no onions or bell pepper, the “queso” taste like the lays queso out of a jar, and the margarita had NO alcohol. Horrible and horrible. Shrimp had no seasoning at all.

The food was good. The service was good but they are always out of something. One time they were out of corona. A couple of weeks later they were out of limes. Today they are out of michelob ultra. It’s a Mexican restaurant on a Saturday. How can you let your restaurant run out of the things that your customers want.

Love casa ole and I’ve been going since the day they opened a million years ago. The prices are insane. You’ve lost your mind. It’s very grimey and greasy and musty in this location. Everything is greasy in the dining room . Clean it. Lord knows you aren’t busy

Okay sooooo I haven’t even left yet and I’m reviewing because it’s just been that aweful. Somehow I feel a jerk but I can only offer honesty and as a patron I feel a little insulted.

I sat at our sticky table and I’ve only seen other patrons have issues like dirty silverware, complaints of the sticky table. It was bareable. I ordered their beef chimichanga and my partner ordered their barbecue shrimp…his came out burnt, like smelled burnt burnt, looked burnt burnt…my plate came with a chicken chimi, I sent it back, I pointed out his food was burnt, (we expect a little browning on a skillet dish but this was not that kind of burnt, it was left on the skillet thing too long is what happened)…

Anyways the waitress felt it wasn’t burnt so we just said whatever, but then the remake of my beef chimi came back and it was cold in the middle.

I’ve called it quits on trying to eat here…I feel bad.. I’m not a picky person at all but this was too much…I dont even think the pictures do the dish justice…half of it is Charcoal

I changed it up this time and ordered a sampler appetizer as my meal. I ordered the Casa Sampler and substituted beef for chicken, no extra charge.

There was so much food that it made 2 complete meals for me. If you ask, they will give you containers with the guacamole, sour cream, salsa, etc. I normally order some flour tortillas to take home, maybe chips and salsa.

I also love their sweet tea. Ok I have a house margarita once in a while, but he drives. lol

Husband normally orders the Wet Burrito and always enjoys it.

When I was at a much heavier weight, 60+ pounds more, I noticed sitting in one particular section in a booth was uncomfortable.

As you walk in door, look to the left side of the restaurant in that room. Beside the wall that runs lengthwise or front to back are a tight fit.

Those are the booths I’m referring to. I would avoid that area because there didn’t seem to be as much room in them.

Face it, we don’t want to sit in a booth where you are in a tight squeeze and your back is against the back padding and ones stomach touches the table. That’s just depressing to me. I never mentioned it, was too embarrassed, I’d just ask to wait for a booth in a different section.

So if you are of larger stature, avoid that section. By the windows is good.

Back to the good stuff, food is yummy, tortilla chips are a bit like Mexico style, on the thicker side. I like Chili’s tortilla chips more, thin, fresh and hot. The salsa is good, but to me the food varies by the cook.

Here’s the deal, I’m originally fro El Paso and spent my first 6 years of life with a lady, my Mama, said Spanish way. She cooked Mexican style and often took us kids, my brother, my self and her kids to Juarez to do her shopping.

We are in certain little lunch counter type of restaurant, cafes. It was Mexican food. Some chiefs in these restaurants are from South America, aka, anything South of Mexico. They have their own way of preparing food and the spices vary. When we ate at Cancun, on Ryan Lake Charles, I’d ask after a bite of food if the cook was from South America.

They look at me quizzically, normally asking how I could tell. I’d laugh and say, because I know Mexican food, and this is Not it.

I’ve found that our latest trips to Casa Ole the food has tasted a lot better. Perhaps it’s the influx of new people moving into our community, but the way the food is prepared, spices used, and the look of it has been closer to Mexican Food.

Believe me, there is a world of difference from South American cooking to Mexican cooking. I prefer Mexican, otherwise I’d go to Cancun, which honestly, I haven’t been there in years.

They have Margarita specials, happy hour I think for the House Margarita. You can request sugar around the rim if you don’t like the salt. I prefer sugar.

There are many families that eat there, but I see younger kids, and couples. I finally hit 60 so I may finally qualify for the Sr Dishes, which are smaller portions. I love to take home my extras so that I can enjoy their wonderful food the next day.

I’m getting a bit of confusion when ordering the food, due to the fact that I know what a Flauta is, so don’t order that one expecting a corn tortilla or Mexican style. It was ok but it really wasn’t what I wanted one trip. It, to me, has too much cheese.

12-21-18 great food. See pics. House Margarita 2.00 crispy beef taco, beef enchilada with beef chili sauce, beef fajita enchilada, rice beans, side of chili con queso, chips and salsa and my flour tortillas. Have enough for supper tomorrow night.
Excellent food. Kay waited in us and did a splendid job. Thank you Kay!

Had the Tilapia De Ensenada and it was absolutely perfect. Beverage of choice was the Green Iguana Margarita on the rocks. It’s not on the menu anymore, but if you ask for it they will make it for you and I have to add that it’s the best tasting Margarita I’ve ever had in Southwest Louisiana. As far as the service, one of my close personal friends who works there was waiting on me so it would be difficult to give an unbiased review but I thought that I was well taken care of.
