The absolute best restaurant in town. It’s such a welcoming and inclusive environment. The food is so good. I love their seasonal offerings. Great margaritas too! And I love checking out the art. I’ve even bought a few pieces.

We stopped for lunch on a Saturday. The place was busy, a wait for tables, so the four of us sat at the bar. It is Brew Week in Athens, so many of the restaurants have an extended beer list. I chose a local Mexican lager. Our bartender was busy but still got to us in a reasonable time. I ordered street tacos, and my wife had the half enchilada. The food here is quite good and tastes authentic. It is not your “typical” Mexican food that you usually find in Ohio. The street tacos were loaded with chicken and were amply sized. Fresh cilantro gave them a nice flavor to go with the Mexican seasonings. My wife’s serving was also proportioned large. They offer vegan alternatives as well.
A word of warning, street parking is metered. The couple we were with came in, were seated, and then went outside to put change in the meter. In that short 10 minutes, they were already ticketed.

Chips tasted expired and store bought, salsa tasted like it was from a jar, which when you have to pay for chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant you expect them to be good.
The chicken had no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. No one in our family enjoyed our meal.
Staff were great and very attentive though!

This place is great! Food is all delicious, service is great, and it feels great contributing to a small business that cares about its workers.

Casa Nueva got that home-style warmth with a twist of creativity. The food had great flavor and a real authentic base you can taste the freshness and care behind the ingredients. Service was cool, not overbearing, just right. The atmosphere felt lively but calm the kind of place where you can slow down and actually enjoy your meal.
A few tweaks on consistency and timing would make it a perfect five, but overall, solid spot.
Louie K’s Up I don’t just eat, I experience.

Love this place! It’s a kind of “hippie Mexican” style but it works really well. Lord of vegetarian and vegan options, good whole foods used to create extremely delicious dishes. I go here every time i come to see my daughter in school. Try the bloody Mary!!

I went to a burlesque show here and it was so much fun. We went and grabbed their late night tacos afterwards. After a night of drinking, the delicious tacos gave me a little bit of heartburn. I said out loud to my friends “man I’m going to need some tums” and then our server came out and handed me a bottle of tums. if that’s not good customer service i don’t know what is.

Casa is an athens original. It’s a must do if you’re in the area. Truly part of the community. Always local food available on the menu. Note: they do not accept “tips” if you care to tip it will be donated to one of the local charities on behalf of the team.

First off, I’m 100% behind the concept. Great to see a proud employee-owned restaurant wearing it like a badge of honor.
Now where’s the follow through?
With a reservation—Took 20 minutes to be greeted and get water/drink order. Took an hour and 15 more to even get the food. All in all, the food was good but not worth the wait.
No wonder the gratuity is baked in…

As someone who grew up in California eating authentic Mexican food, I’ve been so disappointed with the lack of GOOD Mexican food in Ohio. Not anymore! Casa Nueva is the best Mexican restaurant food I’ve had in the state. Great service and Athens is a gem! Amazing!
