Casa Magnolia is a true hidden gem in the heart of Iowa! We stopped by looking for a cozy spot to unwind, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming; you can tell the owners pour their hearts into every detail of the decor. The location is perfect situated right in the center of Marengo, yet tucked away on a quiet, picturesque street. The service was absolutely top-notch. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with such genuine hospitality that we felt like old family friends. Our room was spotless, and the breakfast was simply outstanding. It’s the perfect blend of historic charm and modern comfort. If you’re looking for a place to truly relax and experience authentic Midwestern hospitality, this is it!

I am handicap and the helped me get in up the steps and helped me out. They let us sit and visit which was nice. Great place.

Visited Casa Magnolia tonight and loved it! The salsa that came when seated was amazing – chips were hot and fresh too. I had the pastor chimi which came with rice, beans, and guac. Meal came out piping hot and everything was delicious. On top of the food being great, the service excellent – drinks never ran empty, we were given more chips and salsa upon request, and the staff was very kind. I can’t wait to come back next time we’re in the area!

I travel all over Iowa for my work, and prefer Mexican food because it gives me energy, and they are usually willing to listen to my diet needs, as I have a sensitive stomach. A lot of the places that I come across, unless I say otherwise, are usually greasy holes in the wall, and they don’t listen worth a darn, but Casa Magnolia is a different story not only is the restaurant itself very classy in a quaint, and beautiful setting, but it is truly a gem amongst this type of restaurant. They had no qualms with making my order the way I wanted it. They actually listened to me and understood what I was saying, and didn’t just decide to ignore me, between the gentlemen that took my order, and the chef in the back. The special burrito that I ordered, with rice, steak, tomatoes, and sour cream, was absolutely perfect! The limes they provided me, we’re actually fresh! They weren’t dried up or discolored. Usually when I order a burrito from these restaurants, they are sloppy, mushy, greasy, but not here at Casa Magnolia. When I usually order food from these restaurants, I can barely finish the meal, not do to its nutrients, and its hardiness, but due to the amount of grease that a lot of these restaurants use. Here at Casa Magnolia, I was absolutely astounded, that I was able to finish this entire well-proportioned burrito, with all the correct ingredients, with rice that didn’t taste like it was sitting in a bin all day long, with meat that actually tasted like it was cooked on a grill top, instead of sitting in a sloppy greasy soup. The tomatoes actually had substance to them and flavor, they even lightly toasted the outside of the tortilla shell which no other restaurants do. I even ventured in trying their salsa, wish I usually regret every time I have salsa from one of these restaurants because they overseason in it with cilantro or garlic or something, and they don’t put any lime in, so things just are overpowering, and really turns my stomach upside down, but here at Casa Magnolia the salsa was so incredibly flavorful, it was tangy, it was delicious, I had trouble putting it down, it was so good and normally, I take a couple of bites and I’m done, but this was absolutely delicious. I usually get an incredible stomach ache halfway through the meal, but here, it was so delicious, filling, and satisfying to my body, that I was actually able to finish the entire meal, and I don’t feel like my gut is wrenching. That is super important to me when I’m on the road. I recommend anyone driving through the area, to stop here and try their food! I promise you will not regret it! A shout out to the chef of Casa Magnolia, and all its wonderful staff, including the gentlemen that took my order, and actually paid attention to what I requested. Thank you and God bless you folks!

We have eaten in the restaurant and also have been to several events they have catered (including our family event). They are an amazing, local, family owned business. The food is top notch, the service is excellent, and they take great pride in everything they do. Prices are very reasonable, and the restaurant is very clean!
