Went out on Valentine’s Day for the Omakase. Was easily the best Nigiri I have ever had. Fantastic experience and really wowed. One of my favorite dining experiences!

Such a hidden gem. The sushi is fresh and flavorful boasting a Mexican flair.
We enjoyed the signature cocktails- Whiskey Sour and Espresso Martini. Juan, the manager and Jesus were super attentive and throughout our entire visit. We even learned about a sushi class that will be offered here. We will definitely be back.

Casa Madai is a small BYOB Sushi-Mexican fusion spot in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. The sushi rolls are good, they serve a stand out Sake Maguro Tostada and I enjoyed one of the best Miso Soups I’ve ever tasted. Though the menu is tight, I do wish there were a few more options where Japanese and Mexican flavors were more apparent. I did notice one dish of scallops with mole I wish I’d tried, maybe next time. Overall a good experience, but FYI, there is a $15-$25 BYOB corkage fee.

Delicious, tasteful fusion of a classic omakase with Mexican flavors. I’ve never tried anything like it before. Everything on the table omakase was amazing, but my favorites were the akami tuna (topped with mushrooms) and hamachi (glazed with brown butter).

Had such an amazing omakase experience here! Every dish was super fresh and packed with flavor, and you can really tell how much care Chef Martin puts into each bite. The pacing was perfect, and it felt like every course topped the last.

The vibe is relaxed but still special — you get that elevated dining feel without it being stuffy. The staff were so friendly and made the whole experience even better. Honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, and I’d come back in a heartbeat.

A flavor packed sushi experience. A fantastic fusion that I haven’t had anywhere else. Chef Ismael and Chef Martin put the time into their craft and the food really shows that. Fish was delicious and was elevated. Looking forward to coming back!

Casa Madai and Chef Ismael delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve ever had. Each evening felt like a private Omasake-style journey, curated with thought, passion, and flavors you won’t find anywhere else.

Chef Ismael’s ability to fuse Mexican ingredients with Japanese precision was nothing short of extraordinary. Every single piece of sushi was crafted with intention, each bite carrying its own unique flavor profile that stood on its own while still telling a story as part of the larger menu. What made the experience even more special was learning about Chef Ismael’s journey—how he began his culinary path and what led him into the world of sushi. That personal touch made the meal feel deeply connected, not just to the food, but to the person behind it.

The evening ended on a perfect note with a silky Yuzu cheesecake, a refreshing and delicious finale that tied the whole experience together.

Casa Madai isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a true culinary experience where tradition, creativity, and storytelling come together. Chef Ismael has created something truly special here, and it’s an experience that lingers long after the last bite.

A truly unique experience blending the best of Mexico and Japan right in Pilsen. The omakase was of the highest quality presented in a thoughtful order. We also had the traditional and pink (beet) moles and we can’t wait to come back here to have it again. Great drinks. Great staff. A true gem all around. If you’re looking for plans afterward, it’s just a 5 minute walk to the Tack Room.
