A true gem in the Six Mile!
I think you all might know how wonderful it is when you try a new restaurant that is a hidden gem in your neighborhood.
That’s exactly what happened last night when we went out to Casa Lago Kitchen for dinner with some of our dear friends.
We had one of The most incredible meals.
It is charming and is beautifully decorated for its Italian Kitchen theme.
We had a party of eight and were seated at a really nice size round table. It was perfect for our group. It was almost full when we arrived at 6:00pm.
We all immediately loved the atmosphere. They had quite a few tables and a nice size bar. They are a full service restaurant with cocktails, wine, and a wine sommelier.
The staff was great and ready to tend to every need.
Our server Reese was super sweet and had a lot of recommendations.
I was going to get pizza, but then she told me about her Mom‘s (Mel) homemade lasagna. I was easily swayed. It was a Five Layer Meat Lasagna, House Bechamel Sauce, Mozzarella, and Fresh Basil. It was served in an iron skillet. It was just delicious! The portions were good. I even took some home.
I started with the Casa greens salad. It was a great mixture of Arugula, Pecans, Raisins, Fig Vinaigrette with a Goat Cheese Crumble. I loved the flavor combination!
The wine list was substantial. You could have a nice glass or bottle with different price ranges. We all started with a cocktail and then we enjoyed a bottle of Belle Glos Dairyman Pinot Noir. One of our favorites!
Other table orders included:
CAESAR SALAD
Heart of Romaine, Calabrian Chili Dressing, Parmesan, Breadcrumbs
FUNGI PIZZA
Roasted Mushrooms, Garlic, and Truffle Oil
PEPPERONI PIZZA
Mozzarella, Pepperoni
CARNE PIZZA
Pepperoni, Soppresatta, Italian Sausage, Caramelized Onions
We finished with Donut Holes With Nutella. They are dangerously delicious! Hard to eat just one.
I had the opportunity to meet more of the staff and the chef. I complimented them on what a great job they’re doing.
This is a perfect addition to Six Mile.
Thank you to the creative team who had the vision to put this restaurant all together.
We look forward to returning soon!
For dinner we had Family Greens (arugula, fig vinaigrette, pecans, raisins, goat cheese) with Chicken & the Carne Pizza. Outstanding quality and so good.
We liked the restaurant, but the loud 80’s rock music didn’t fit the surroundings. Would still go back
I tried this new pizzeria and it completely exceeded my expectations! I started with the meatballs — fresh, homemade, and full of flavor. The Brussels sprouts were another standout: fried/roasted perfectly with balsamic vinegar for the right balance of crisp and tangy.
The lasagna was AMAZING — rich, meaty, and layered with a smooth béchamel sauce. Truly one of the best all-meat lasagnas I’ve had. We also ordered the Margherita pizza and you can taste how fresh every ingredient is. The cherry tomatoes were a great addition and made the flavors pop. The sausage and peppers were hot, spicy, and absolutely delicious.
To top it all off, I had a Cosmopolitan martini that was perfectly made.
Highly recommend this place — fresh ingredients, great flavors, and a solid addition to the area’s dining scene!
Online ordering was smooth
Service was great.
The bad:
The cost of everything vs the portion size – wow it is HIGH.
$20 for vodka sauce gnocchi that was hard and rubbery like it came off the Sysco truck and microwaved immediately. Sauce was great but the gnocchi itself was very disappointing. Very solid/rubbery/chewy texture vs the light fluffy texture that gnocchi brings.
$19 Bianca is a fancy cheese pizza with super super thin crust. Usually cheese pizza is made with no issues but it’s pretty bland for all the cheeses and we are still looking for the roasted garlic that is listed on the menu for this.
Edit: tried getting my daughter to eat the pizza and she even doesn’t like it. Too tough and not a lot of flavor.
$12 for crispy fried Brussels – these were awesome. Cooked well and the sauce was great. Priced a little high but good.
All in all, I’ll take my $60 somewhere else (this was just me and the wife).
Was really hoping for something good.
The pepperoni with hot honey? Chef’s kiss. It’s like someone said, “What if spicy, sweet, and salty all held hands and jumped into your mouth?” Whoever invented hot honey deserves a Nobel Prize.
10/10 would return — and I’m bringing elastic-waist pants next time.
The lady at the front was extremely nice when I entered the restaurant until I told her I had a togo order and not a reservation. She read our ticket and gave us our pizza and her entire attitude was a 360 and she was then rude. I guess I just expected more when paying $45 for two pizzas.
