The vegetarian soup had great flavor, however I wish it had more substance to it for the price. There were only the four cubes of cheese, half an avocado, and the rest was filled with the tortillas. It was tasty but I took it home to make breakfast tacos with the broth since it is on the thicker side. Now with that said, would I get it again? Yes, if I were in the mood for it, but I would probably ask for the tortillas on the side.
The vegetable enchiladas were yummy- Everything was a little salty (just a personal preference some people may like as is) but the restaurant was not skimpy on the filling. There were plenty of vegetables (a nice variety) and as you can see, the portion size of everything was plentiful.
Negatives: The fish dish was a major flop. The vegetables didn’t have much flavor and the fish had a “fishy” taste. (tilapia) but we couldn’t get past the fishy note so we sent it back. Staff was understanding and did let us know it was fresh fish (which we did appreciate them telling us this) and they took it off our bill.
They seem to have a lot of authentic foods on the menu which is appreciated since a lot of places carry what the typical American may prefer, but I do plan on going back to try their paella.
Excellent
As the restaurant continues to grow, adding new cooks and staff, I’d just encourage a continued focus on consistency to maintain the high standards they’ve clearly set. That said, I’ve never had a personal issue—nor witnessed one—that wasn’t immediately and professionally addressed by the attentive team. Their menu is ambitious and robust, and I applaud them for always striving to get it right.
Now let’s talk drinks: the cocktails at Casa Kahlo are next level. Yes, some of the specialty drinks may be priced slightly above what you’d find at other spots, but the quality justifies every penny. The handcrafted margaritas and cocktails are beautifully presented, generously poured, and taste as incredible as they look, with REAL, quality ingredients. And if you’re watching your tab, there’s also a solid selection of well-priced beers and seltzers to keep things budget-friendly.
Beyond the dining experience, Casa Kahlo transforms into one of the most vibrant nightlife spots in the area. Between live music, DJs, and themed events, there’s always something going on —and the energy on the dance floor is electric. The crowd skews younger during the school year, but it’s a welcoming and inclusive environment where I’ve always felt comfortable and at home, no matter the time of day.
Lastly, a special shoutout to Justin, one of Casa Kahlo’s standout bartenders. His warm smile and infectious energy make every visit memorable. He’s a true artist behind the bar and takes real pride in his craft. Honestly, every staff member I’ve met has been kind, welcoming, and committed to making sure guests leave full, happy, and already planning their next visit.
I always walk out of Casa Kahlo feeling better than when I walked in—and that’s something truly special. Thank you to the Casa Kahlo family!
