Came for the first time to try it out and upon arriving I was greeted by a friendly host and a nice looking space. Unfortunately, the food didn’t do it justice. I tried a 3 item build your own combo to try a few different things to see how they compare to other Mexican restaurants in the area. Everything was slightly off. The chips are oily and leave a film in your mouth but taste good. The salsa is meh. The beans are definitely under seasoned and bland. The rice was the best thing on the plate. The crunchy shredded beef taco was delicious until the second bite that pulled the rest of the “meat” out of the taco because it was just a large glob of chewy fat and sinew. The cheese enchilada was covered with their red sauce that tasted like canned sauce making the experience similar to a microwave enchilada meal. Then there was the chili relleno. I love chili rellenos but this one was covered in verde sauce and was extremely bitter. I kept trying it hoping it was just a strange bite but it was consistent to the middle of the chili. Overall, I didn’t enjoy the food that I ate at this restaurant enough to ever return. If I rated this restaurant on their refried beans alone, I wouldn’t return because that staple is in or with most of the entrees. To put it simply, the food I tried wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either.

I’ve been going here for years. Service is outstanding! Food is good. Drinks are great. Why the three stars? They have changed their lighting in the restaurant to 5000K bulbs. It’s like high noon at 8:00 in the evening. I go out not just for the food but also for the ambience. Hard to enjoy a cozy meal with my wife when the light is so bright. No longer has the Mexican restaurant vibe. I’ll miss it.

This place was so good! Their food came out quickly and they were generous with portions. They brought out a second basket of chips without us asking and their salsa is flavorful and not overly spicy.

Had such a great time seeing friends we hadn’t seen in a very long time. We met up here. I had the 2 item – cheese enchilada, chile relleno and beans and rice. So delicious! It satisfied my craving. I wish I’d taken pics but I was caught up in the moment that I totally forgot. In a way, that was a good thing- I was totally present and enjoyed the great company and food. Oh I had jugo de jaimaca for a refreshing drink. I’ve had their margaritas before – funny story there but for another time. The margaritas are nice!

Came for a conference in Murrieta from Florida, and while exploring the town we passed by this restaurant. We looked it up, saw some reviews and decided to stop by and have lunch. It was pretty good or just okay, I have mix feelings. We ordered create your own combos. The taquito that were ordered with one of the combos, either the tortilla that was fried or the chicken that was stuffed in it was spoiled. My wife spit it out after taking a bite. We let the waitress know, so she was aware and said she would let “them” know, but that is all that was done. It was never remade or no one came out to address the issue. We had a sope and crunchy taco and it was not bad. The sope a little soggy and tough on the bottom. The shredded chicken on it was good, and so was the sauce on the enchilada we had. Overall I give the place a 3, and that is me being nice. Like I said, I have mix feelings. I personally think the waitress thought we were lying about the taquito, maybe trying to get something free but we weren’t. It’s our first time in Cali and first time eating at Casa Jimenez. We will definitely visit Cali again, but I think it will be the last time eating at Casa Jiménez.

The service was wonderful. I wanted to try the Chile Verde sauce to make sure it wasn’t too spicy for me. The waiter immediately brought me out a sample. He was right it was not spicy. We will definitely be going back

The food was exponential. I never thought the food would be this good, but here I am. I was here with my family for dinner. My mom and dad shared the molcajete. It looked and tasted great. My sisters and I all got a California burrito. It had warm steak and fries but cold sour cream and guacamole. Very delicious. My brother got a cheese burger. It looked pretty good. The atmosphere was very authentic. When we got there, it was loud, but then it got pretty quiet. The staff was very nice and friendly but it was a little slow. Overall, it was a great experience for the family and I. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends

Great food, authentic flavors, quality ingredients. If you dont finish your plate you will make damn-sure you remember that to-go box! Simple menus with just enough choices. The Staff is great, especially Gustavo! He is always on top of it. House margaritas are awesome and there beers-on-tap are dialed in perfect!

A unique Mexican food place that lives up to the hype! This place is buried in a mall with lots of others place and can be easily missed; but you shouldn’t!
We strolled into this place to try the food that was hyped up on Yelp. The smell from outside and in was savory! The menu is pretty typical of a Mexican food place but it has lots more variety and very different specials. We went with soup some drinks and a couple enchilada plates. The prices were very reasonable especially for the sized portions. Their service was pretty great, always coming around for refills and keeping us up to date on the food. The food came out pretty quickly too. The food turned out to be fantastic and tasty, the meat was not over cooked and the sauces were spot on. They even brought out some chips and salsa before all this. Great drinks too! Check this place out, the total package.
