We had high hopes for this because of the great reviews. We were so disappointed. The two best things about this place were the margarita flight and a sweet older lady who was bussing tables and refilling chips. She was great! She was so much more attentive than our waitress. We waited a long time for our food, close to an hour. Our waitress never brought my husband his soft drink but still charged us for it. Additionally, she charged us full price for items that were on special. She also got our daughter’s order wrong but we were so tired and hungry we didn’t complain. The food was mediocre. The tacos resembled fast food tacos. Disappointed for sure. The cute decor, margaritas, and sweet lady carried this place.

Got a nacho appetizer. It was a cold mess. The beans were absolutely flavorless while the ground beef had a weird taste that was reminiscent of canned dog food smell. The few chips were soggy and buried. We asked for flour tortillas for both of us. We received one small foil package with 2 small tortillas. They weren’t even home made.
My husband said he has never had nachos you had to eat with a fork. He said they tasted like they made it out of their old chips. The whole thing was yuck.
Even the chips they brought to the table were cold.
Not a fun food experience. This place made on the Pinky swear of never to eat here again.

During a trip to the Dalles we stopped here for lunch. They had just opened and we were greeted by a friendly gentleman outside putting out a flag. The host was equally cheerful and friendly. There was upbeat music playing and bright decor & wall murals felt fun. We both ordered fajitas- mine was chicken and my husband got steak. I appreciated that it was not over salty. It was very flavorful and the spices were very well done, balanced and not overly hot.
We left feeling very full and happy. It was a delightful experience.

The decorations were great with bright, vivid Mexican colors and themes. The food we ordered were nicely done especially the beans, very tasty. The service was a bit slow but acceptable.

We had the three tacos plate and a specialty burrito plate and both were really good. The restrooms are super nice and clean. The service was excellent. I enjoyed the food and later the leftovers. Most places in The Dalles are more towards the low end of the spectrum so I was very pleasantly surprised to visit such a nice restaurant there. I love Spookies too which I drive from Portland to visit regularly. Thank you very much for creating such a nice restaurant. Some sites show this restaurante as overly expensive, and don’t think that. My meal average was twenty dollars per person and they give you a lot to eat, so no worries on value.

Always a favorite! I had a chicken chimichanga and a chile relleno combo with a “nojito” non-alcoholic drink. Delicious food and drinks as always! Great service too!

Stopped by for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon. Nice place. Friendly staff. Super fast service. We had our food in 10 minutes.
The food…
This where it goes downhill.
I had the Birria tacos. They should change the name to Shredded beef tacos. The meat had almost no Birria flavor to it. The tacos were sparsely filled and super greasy. You can find better birria tacos with beans and rice almost anywhere for about 1/2 the price.
My wife had the El Macho chicken burrito. The chicken filling was very watery, bland and was over shredded, almost minced or ground in consistency.
Our youngest had the small seafood enchilada. He didn’t care much for the flavor, and apparently it didn’t agree with him at all. Within an hour he was complaining that his stomach hurt and we had to make an emergency pit stop. I’ll spare the details…
Our oldest had the fish tacos, and he loved them…
Overall, not very impressed.

Great atmosphere and decor, service is usually very good as well, nice place to have lunch or dinner when you would like to relax with friends or family. Prices are what you would expect at similar (updated decor sit down) restaurants, pricing is a bit high for any exception or add on (they charge for chips and salsa refill), but the food itself is mediocre. Carne asada was a bit chewy, dry, and lacked flavor, chile relleno was mid, enchilada, burrito, etc. are all mediocre – lacking spice, flavor, and ingredients didn’t seem to be very fresh. Pollo asada was also lacking seasoning and chicken tasted a bit stale. Not a ‘go to’ if you want to thoroughly enjoy food, but instead a decent place to go if you would like to enjoy spending time with your companions.

Food is pretty good, but prices are high (about $20 per person) for what it is. We ordered online for pick-up and when we got to our family gathering, discovered they did not include one entree. We stopped by on the way out of town and they offered to make the entree (Quesadilla Suprema), but when we made it back to Hood River, we found they had given us chicken and fries instead.

I struggled to write this review. My wife loved her food, I thought mine was mediocre. The restaurant has fully painted murals on the walls with amazing decorations; however, the lighting is muted which gives the inside a dark appearance. Our table wasn’t fully cleaned and had a grease mark on it. Our server was friendly but not very attentive. The food is expensive.
I ordered Chef Jose’s Chili Colorado from the specialty portion of the menu. It comes with rice and beans with either corn or flour tortillas. I asked for flour. Comparatively, it wasn’t bad; however, it wasn’t great. See my Garcia’s review. The plate cost $19.99.
My wife loved her food and to be honest, this is where Casa El Mirador outshines many other restaurants. They have an extensive vegetarian selection of dishes. My wife ordered enchiladas and loved them. Her plate cost $12.99.
We ordered Peach and Mango lemonade to drink which we found delightful. Cost, $4.00/each.
Overall, I would return and order something else. My wife would definitely return and most likely order the same thing despite the amazing vegetarian selection of dishes. I must say that I would not bring a large group due to the high prices of the food.
