Holy moly. Who knew such a great little Mexican restaurant was right under our noses in Ava? I was surprised, but this family-operated joint (truly—the counter is manned by the young man whose abuelita is right in the kitchen making everything 100% from scratch) is worth a journey from Springfield for sure.
Featuring a small menu (a great sign of things being homemade and not delivered from Sysco), the food had a richness of flavor from southern Mexico that isn’t found in most other Mexican restaurants in southwest Missouri. We got the quesadillas, which featured steak seasoned with an earthy, warming spice mix with notes of cinnamon, accompanied by a side of rice and the most delicious beans clearly made by hand, and the La Mexicana Burrito, which was massive and featured richly-flavored steak, rice, beans, and guacamole.
I also ordered a champurrado, a chocolate rice-based hot drink which I haven’t found on menus anywhere else in the region but I got addicted to on my trips to Mexico. We also got some homemade fresh empanadas that I’ll have to report back on (taking them to go as we’re too full to eat them now!).
I’ll definitely be driving out this way from Ozark again just for this place—it’s that good!

Delicious Food, great staff, friendly customers.
The 100% Biblically Clean Menu was refreshing, most Mexican restaurants you have to ask about Lard in the beans, and watch out for pork inside of sauces and such.
{Quoted from the menu}
“All food and food ingredients made in this establishment are considered biblically clean according to Leviticus 11. No exceptions”
Praise Yah.
Thank you Casa Delicioso ❤️

Casa Deliciosos is hands down the best mexican food in Ava. The burritos are huge and packed with flavor, and the salsa is fresh and delicious, you can tell it’s homemade. The food tastes authentic, and the place has a warm, homey vibe that’s hard to find around here. Definitely will return.

We are visiting from Illinois, and found this to be a delightful experience. Friendly, homey and vibrant atmosphere. The menu was diverse and the portions were hearty. We chose the house made guac, carne asada street tacos and 5 bean chicken tortilla soup. A little homemade horchata for a sweet finish. Outstanding! 5 out of 5 recommend!

I finally got around to trying breakfast at Casa Delicioso. I had the #1 with eggs, chorizo, and potatoes. It was very large and very delicious! The hot salsa was excellent. I spent $11.50 for the burrito but they do have the option of getting tacos for a little less. I will definitely be back.

Went to visit family for the holidays and heard about this cute little hole in the wall cafe we decided to give it a try ! Definitely recommend you check it out yourselves! Kept going back for more food while staying there and let me tell you, you won’t find any other authentic Mexican food in Missouri! Coming from a place where we grew up with good Mexican food and living somewhere where you can barely find it we were so happy to FINALLY find food that actually tasted AMAZING! Will def be going back when visiting to try other menu options! Aside the deliciousness of their food the staff (family owned cafe btw) was very friendly and welcoming we loved everything about it from the ambiance to the cute Mexican inspired decor and music and many menu options to chose from without it overwhelming you! Whether you get a breakfast burrito or a lunch/ dinner meal I promise you won’t be disappointed! And they even have homemade desserts!! If I could give it more stars I would!!! So happy the little town of Ava finally has a place where you can get a delicious bite to eat!

My Spanish is not “Muy bueno” but I know DELICIOSO when I taste it. The portions are big, I suspect they were measured in units of mexican love. These chilaquiles were so authentic I almost started speaking fluent Spanish!
The service is so friendly they probably tuck you in at night!
10/10 would recommend!
FIVE STARS

We loved this sweet place! The quesadillas were amazing and the salad to go with it was delicious. The tres leches is a MUST have and the mexican coffee is perfection! The staff (Miss Ellie) is friendly, on top of it and the entire restaraunt is exceptionally clean. We like the stone ware you eat off as well. We will be coming back.
