We ordered queso for our chips and it didn’t come out until 1 hour later, AFTER we got our food and reminded the staff. Not hard working or diligent people at all.
Staff wasn’t personable or extremely helpful, overall it was just a below average experience. Plenty of better places to go to that won’t make you wait an hour for your food.
I like to support local restaurants but this one was horribly disappointing! We were the only customers in the restaurant and service was extremely slow. There was only one employee we saw, the one who unlocked the door for us and turned out to be our waitress. She was polite, but very slow in getting our drink order, food order, and ticket. I could have understood understaffing, but as mentioned, we were the only customers in the place.
When our food came, I was almost embarrassed for our waitress. The food hardly filled our plates. I ordered a chicken dish where the chicken breast had been split in half. It was tough and hard to cut and and chew. It was maybe the size of a small burger, very small and about 1/4 of an inch thick! According to the menu description, it was supposed to be marinated. It tasted like the “marinade” was ketchup mixed with a little Tabasco. Other plates were very skimpy on food. Burritos and enchiladas were small and almost almost laid flat on the plates. I guess I could deal with it better if the cost was about ¼ of the price we paid. No drinks for 4 totaled, with tip, around $80.00!!
Will never go to this place again! I typically don’t do reviews but this experience was completely “over the top” bad in all areas. We all left feeling cheated, and hungry!
Don’t waste your money here!
The food was super yummy, I really enjoyed the food that I got. The staff was very welcoming and kind to us as we ordered and made your way to our food and seating area.
I got the Pollo a la Diabla, my partner got a combination plate of an enchilada, chile relleno frito and a chichanga. I got a spicy tamarindo drink and my partner got a Mezcal mule.
Overall really great experience and I’d recommend it to all.
Todo estába bien delicioso.
A year ago i stopped. I was pretty sure had left a review but perhaps i didnt or got removed. Ive been to this place about 4-5 times max and hadn’t been to it in the past year; decided to stop by to see if perhaps it had improved.
I honestly didnt see much improvement unfortunately.
On one of my first visits it was for luch and even thought the place was empty staff were not available to get me seater so the manager took over which was a plus as far as service.
However the food is just not to my liking or palette, think the food is either under cooked or overcooked in addition to plates having very little beef or chicken it seems they end being more like salads.
Tbh i havent ordered fajitas here or rarely as thats more tex-mex and usually best are in the chain. For fajitas without excess veggies mixed in but based on pictures that seems to run across al dishes here not only fajitas.
Now they could play on the “sustainable restaurant” and perhaps that works in this area which is great but in addition there’s a serious lack of flavor or any seasoning whatsover.
2nd instance I recall it was similar case excess veggies , Dry rice and tasteless beans even though they had nice texture at least.
Ceviche wasnt to my liking had to customize it quite a bit to get any flavor with condiments and sauces and yet still not recommed as shrimp seemed pre cooked frozen. On top the tostada was drenched luckily had chips.
Manager aproached how everything was and ill be honest in an attept to have them perhaps conskder improbing but he wasnt too receptive to what i had to say andbecame defensive statingvnobody has complained and they do well. Which instated thats great but im stating since you asked and rice is bit dry and couldn’t perceive much flavor even though did have some color. Now i dont necessarily rate on “authentic” more so is it cooked properly and does it have flavor ?
My last visit the plates are colorful however since food is not seasoned much and food is not sauteed or beef seared some pieces didn’t even seem properly cooked hence no flavor. Theres really fine line between juicy properly cooked and simply tender soft not fully cooked but these pieces were chewy not fully cooked. I seperated the bell papers to demonstate how little chicken that dish had and even though had ate 3-5 pieces that chicken was diced so small theres no reason for it to be uncooked. Take a couple extra minutes and get it right.
Anyways thats the rant the meat in the molcajete was good and cooked properly but mentiomed something was just luke warm. Point of molcajete is to keep food hot amd that molcajete eas not got so it will abosorb the heat from the food. The chips were also perhaps tad stale reheated giving inpressionnof fresh and while it was very subtle not a great impression tobstart out.
I really hope they strive to do better seems perhaps they have the niche customers amd thats great.
For the pricing and area and quality theres several other options nearby.
We just happen to be looking for a Mexican restaurant and found casa cortes family Mexican restaurant. I will say this restaurant did not disappoint.
So I had the guacamole to start followed by the combo fajitas and finished with the churros.
I am a guacamole snob and I won’t say it was the best I ever had but it still was really good.
Next was the fajitas and they did not disappoint. The portion size was large and the flavor was excellent. I was stuffed!
I however couldn’t pass up trying my favorite thing churros and they were amazing.
The service was very fast and attentive. I highly recommend if you’re in the area to give this place a try!
