Another Day Another Café
Walking into Casa Comal, I wasn’t sure if I’d stumbled into a fever dream or a United Nations recruitment office. A Ukrainian hostess greeted us at the door, smiling politely, and for a split second I wondered if we’d made a tragic culinary error. But then bam! Our Oaxacan waiter appeared, grinning like an old friend, and suddenly we were in the hands of a man who knew exactly what he was doing. When he rolled up with the avocados and crushed them tableside into guacamole so fresh it practically vibrated, I knew this wasn’t dinner, it was salvation.
Strip mall Mexican food should be a portal. You walk past the nail salon, the vape shop, and suddenly you’re sucked into a wormhole that spits you out somewhere south of Oaxaca, mezcal in hand, mariachi echoing in your skull. Casa Comal nails that trick. The walls are ablaze with brilliant decorations and intricate wood carvings, half shrine, half travel vision and the food arrives on sizzling hot plates like artillery fire, portions massive enough to stun a small horse.
And the taste? Authentic, unapologetic, dangerous. The kind of food that reminds you life’s too short for bland burritos and microwaved queso. This is border hopping, time warping cuisine, delivered with zeal and a wink.
Camas doesn’t know how lucky it is. Casa Comal isn’t just a restaurant it’s a shrine lined with lime wedges and jalapeños, a culinary rift in the strip mall space time continuum. Viva Mexico!

Food was delicious with a huge taco. I never photograph my food, but the taco was incredibly large. Service quick and hot. Staff is very attentive.

Very inviting, I really liked the taste of their rice and salsa. I had a combo with burrito and tamale, my son had a kids meal with burrito and loved it. The server was very nice and I loved her recommendation to add sauce on the tamale, very delicious. Even though it was busy we were served quickly. The big portion was a wonderful takeaway as well.

Casa Colima was amazing! We’d been looking for a new favorite Mexican restaurant since our long time favorite “Las Flamas” went out of business.
Great food, Wonderful service, margaritas were stiff, tortillas were soft and steak was sizzling. We will definitely be back again.

Restaurant was very clean, and the servers were very friendly. I can’t say that the food was much different than I’ve had at many other Mexican restaurants. However, it was presented nicely, and I felt it was a good value. I also appreciated that most of the restaurant appeared to have booth seats allowing for more private conversations. They really seem to take pride in keeping the restaurant clean and nicely decorated. I will definitely be back.

We were feeling a little zesty tonight so we had to come to one of our favorite restaurants “Casa Colima.” Once we were seated, we had to order the glorious table side guacamole- chunky, of course!! We told her to throw everything in there with some spicy spice. It was so scrumptious, I will probably dream about it tonight. Worth every penny.
And if the guac wasn’t zesty enough, the fajitas definitely were. I don’t even need a menu; I already know I’m ordering the shrimp fajitas every time. They are so tender and marinated to perfection. Tastes like they got abuela back there whipping up the dishes.
The carne asada fajitas – juicy, tender, melt in your mouth, cuts like butter. I don’t know what they do, but it tastes so, so good.

This is only a review of their veggie burrito and their veggie burrito because I am sure it is not representative of their overall food.
That being said I asked for a vegetarian burrito which means a bean burrito specifically trying to clarify there is no lard in the beans.
Their veggie burrito has unseasoned Normandy vegetables (that I’m completely convinced were frozen). It wasn’t Mexican ish in taste. It was the worst meal I have been served recently. My regular truck was closed for repairs so I tried this and was so disappointed also it was 20 dollars with a tip.
I’m literally quite angry about being woefully ripped off for bad food.

Been here once to try it with some family and we had a great time. The food is good everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Margaritas are excellent!! Atmosphere is good and fun and the orders came out fast.
What I liked most was the staff. Everyone was super helpful, polite, and on top of things. Keep up the great work your employees must enjoy working there.
Worth a stop in if you want some good mexican american style dishes and good drinks!

So I went with my buddy to try this place and it was so good. The restaurant’s interior was so colorful and the staff was so friendly . It was a great atmosphere to be in and eat some good food. They have table side guacamole that is delicious. I got a carnitas enchilada that was big enough for two separate meals and it was packed full of flavor. I also got a house margarita and that thing was strong but delicious. The service was great , we literally sat down and got chips immediately. The servers were so friendly and got us anything we needed. I recommend this place, you will enjoy it.
