It was my friend birthday, and I told him to decide where to eat. This was the place he decided, for me it was my first time, to many items to choose but at the end just decided to get a wet burrito de al pastor with some fried and horchata to drink .The birthday got a regular burrito with a Michelada his girl got some shrimp and a corona and his daughter un taco. It wasn’t busy. The food took a bit come out. They enjoyed the food that what matter to be. Now time for my review, the food took sometime, when the food arrived, the order of fries was saggy, and it was a bit warm, not crispy. My wet burrito was ok, just that al pastors didn’t taste like al pastors , it tasted different. The horchata was ok
Overall 4.2

The tacos carnitas and pastor were really tasty, sooo good. However, the wait time to get them took long. My husband and I waited for awhile although the restaurant was not busy at all. We liked the music and the cleanliness of the restaurant.

The food was so good that I have returned with in the week of my first visit. I’m back and going to try the Albondiga soup. First time it was the family appetizer. That appetizer was tons of food for 2. We had to left overs home.

Nice local place. Friendly staff to help you. However, they only have green salsa to go with your chips. I wish they also had a good red salsa.

I ordered the enchilada plate and was disappointed that of the 3 enchiladas you get, you can only choose one type. I typically like to get one chicken and one beef to compare. I had to get all chicken or all beef or all cheese. The quality was good but limited flexibility. The beans were just ok. The Chile Relleno was on the small side and could have used more egg.

New owners in the last 3 months! The son is so kind who was our server and the food is awesome!
We knew the original owners back in the 60’s!
It’s one of our new go to spots for great homemade Mexican food! Loved it!!!

Worst food I’ve had in a restaurant in years. Had steak and eggs. Eggs were overcooked. Steak tasted like it was soaked in soy sauce. Hash brown potatoes were mealy and uncooked inside and inedible – just left them there.

Place smelled bad.

Music was way too loud.

Food took a long time to arrive but in retrospect it would have been better if it never came so I’m not sure if this is good or bad.

After I pick up my wife work we were very hungry and my wife was craving for caldo or soup then I remember a friend told a restaurant on Las Tunas Dr in San Gabriel. He have been going to the restaurant for years he told me the food is really good then my wife and I headed to the restaurant. We arrive at the restaurant and looks old traditional restaurant from Mexico that I remember when we to Mexico.

We got seated right Way the interior have classic look that we like then waiter came and hand us the menu and ask us our drinks order my wife order a Hibiscus drink then I order a Mexico coke bottle. Then we order my wife order the caldo de Pollo or chicken soup and also order a bean and cheese burrito then I order a Chili renello plate one of my favorite dishes.

Then the waiter brought our food it looks and smell really good. I took a bite of my chili renello it was really good lots of flavor in the chile and also the sauce and especially the cheese it was good and chewy that’s the kind-of cheese I like. The rice and beans were full of flavor that I really like and comes with a salad with avocado on top. My wife enjoy her caldo de Pollo or chicken soup also comes with freshly made tortillas. We enjoy our meal at Casa Callderon we need come back again.

Great food and atmosphere. My husband brought home some ceviche and it was so good. We’ll be back. Be patient with the staff as they are short staffed.

Update 3/7/2025!

Still the best service and food ever! I love coming to this place ❤️
