I’ve been looking for some good Mexican food ever since I moved here from Boston. Finally Casa Aguilera satisfied my craving. Not only was the atmosphere inviting and the decor interesting and beautiful, the service was fantastic and food delicious. This is the restaurant experience I’ve been waiting for, they seem to value us as guests and quality of our experience. I highly recommend Casa Aguilera and will be returning.

Perhaps my experience stems from the fact that I’ve eaten real Mexican food. This place is absolutely dreadful. I ordered a burrito bowl – the meat had no flavor and had a very strange texture. Plus the whole thing was extremely watery.

Good food and hands-down the best chips and salsa anywhere around. This new restaurant packs a lot of punch. The food is delicious but the portions could be bigger. The burrito meal is the most food of any of their plates but the other dishes have been smaller than desired. They recently added beer and wine (& Sangria) to the menu which is a welcome addition from when they first opened and didn’t have a liquor license. There isn’t much seating in the restaurant so make sure to make reservations or show up before 6. There is often a line of customers waiting for a table after 6 PM. It’s well worth the wait!

I went to casa Aguilera for the first time today for lunch. I was very excited to hear there was a Mexican place in st J because I don’t know of any others in the area. I was happily surprised with the ambiance of the restaurant: small but cozy and welcoming. The chips and salsa were very good (though I usually prefer corn tortilla as opposed to flour). The only thing i wasn’t impressed with was the cheese on the nachos, which was a day glow orange velveeta looking cheese sauce that didn’t taste very good. All the other ingredients besides that were great, especially the steak on top and the japapenos. If they were made with normal melted shredded cheese they would be great and I could see myself becoming a regular customer. Other than that, our server was nice and I did have a good overall experience. I like to support local businesses so I would like to give it another chance.

Great great great food. I have no idea why there are negative comments. I have lived in Chihuahua, Mexico for several years and grew up in the Chile Capital of the World and this restaurant is my absolute top 2 favorite restaurants in ALL of Mexico and Hatch/Las Cruces NM. If there is a complaint on this site it is because no one knows the definition of true Mexican food.

Best Mexican food in VT. I hope this little restaurant makes it. I had the chimmichanga which was absolutely amazing. I knew the food was going to be great after I tried their salsa. If you are nearby I highly recommend it.

I feel saddened every time I think of Casa Aguilera closing. Take it from someone who grew up with TexMex, enjoyed Southern California Mexican food for 15 years and made numerous foray’s into Mexico, all over. The food at Casa Aguilera was excellent. And the service was always good. Casa Aguilera I miss you. I wish it had been closer so I would have gone more often. Come to Hardwick.

My wife and I tried this place for the first time last night. There was two servers and it was fairly busy so we expected it would take longer than normal to get our food. What we didn’t expect was the couple that came in 45 minutes after us to receive their food (they ordered the same meal as us) and ate it all before we even got our food. It took an hour an a half before we got our food. The waiter asked my wife if she wanted another glass of wine and she said yes. The same waiter walked by us about 10 times after this with no wine. We were so fed up we boxed up our food, paid and left. I do have to say that the food was amazing but the service was horrible. Very disappointed.

Great place! We try to go every week! We lived in San Diego for many years, and this is the closest authentic Mexican there is in the area. Great food. Very friendly staff.
