The food was absolutely outstanding. The steak was cooked to perfection — juicy, flavorful, and tender throughout. The Brussels sprouts were a delightful surprise: crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned beautifully. Every bite was a pleasure.
But what really elevated the evening was the service. Our server was super, super friendly — warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our celebration special. They checked in at just the right moments without being overbearing, and their enthusiasm made everyone at the table feel welcome.
The ambiance is comfortable and upscale without feeling stuffy, which suited our birthday gathering perfectly. The staff handled us well as a party celebrating a special occasion, and didn’t make us feel rushed.
I also ordered the New Year’s special of black-eyed peas and cabbage. I’m not sure how the cabbage was seasoned, but it was surprisingly delicious — unique, comforting, and fabulous.
I don’t usually splurge on dessert, but I’m so glad I did. The seasonal pumpkin cheesecake was light, fluffy, and perfectly decadent, topped with a caramel drizzle and candied nuts. Once again, Tashia guided me perfectly.
Dining alone can be hit or miss, but this was a genuinely enjoyable experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back — and I hope Tashia is working.
1st things first, our service was wonderful. Now on to nitty gritty. The Lobster Corndogs didn’t live up to my expectations. I would have loved more lobster and a crispy element. Although, the slaw is supposed to be the crispy element, it’s awkward to get a complete bite. Either crispy onion bits, crispy bacon or pretzel/corn strips/crispy rice paper on top of the corndog would give the complete bite. The corndog is pillowy with a little crisp on the outside, with a lobster/shrimp mousse “sausage” in the center. Combined with the sauce it fell flat. It was accompanied by a lemon aoli, although tasty it missed the mark of adding full citrus flavor or acid. Nothing danced on my tastebuds. It could also use a pinch of salt and a zip of spice.
I didn’t realize the Wagyu Cupcakes were like little meatloaves. I did expect the beautiful piped mashed potatoes. Once again there was a lack of texture contrast. The ground wagyu beef was very soft, almost barely keeping it’s form. The sauce on the wagyu was weirdly sweet. It felt so out of place. It really was similar to shepherd’s pie and I think if they would have made Wagyu Shepherd’s Pie it would still be enticing, especially if the potatoes are piped beautifully.
The asparagus with crabmeat was really good. A few of the asparagus were overcooked and maybe more butter was used than I would usually prefer.
We also had the Smoked Macaroni. One word: bland. It needed salt and flavor, It was as though the cheese lacked depth and definitely smoke.
If Carve expects to keep up with Perry’s, Trudeau’s, or Yard House they will need to use salt, spices and textures. Also, a little acid wouldn’t hurt.
