Met my mom for a quick lunch in Clinton Louisiana. The owner greeted us like we were family, and made us feel right at home. The plate lunches were delicious. Best liver and onions I’ve ever eaten. Melt in your mouth. The cabbage was also cooked to perfection. And that was just one of the many delicious options on the menu. I wish I lived closer because I’d eat there every day if I could.

Highly Recommended!! Awesome Down Home Cooking , So much soul food homemade to choose from this owner/cook is the best I’ve ever had. I dont usually eat out but I eat here every chance I get at least 2-3 times a week that’s just how delicious the food is .

After traveling for multiple hours, me and my mom stopped to get a bite to eat. When we walked in the lady standing there said are y’all here to check us out. We responded and said yes we went to the back of the restaurant where they already had food prepared, I didn’t really see anything I wanted. My mom said she needed to use the restroom, when we came out of the restroom, The cook that was standing by the food told us we could look at the menu if we didn’t see anything liked. the lady that first spoke to us said what y’all just wanted to use the restroom… I responded and said no I didn’t see anything appetizing over there, we wanted to look at the menu. She said that was very bold of you, seem to be offended. Then proceeded to tell us that we needed to leave and never come back. I never got a chance to taste the food, but I hope it is much better than their hospitality and customer service skills. I was truly unsatisfied with this experience, especially since this is my first time in Louisiana.

We drove in from out of town just to try Carter’s Home Cooking — and it was so worth it! Mrs. Carter is an absolute gem. She made us feel right at home the moment we walked in, like we were family. You can tell she pours her heart and soul into every dish.
We had the pork chop, and it was hands down one of the best we’ve ever tasted — juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite. The whole experience, from the warm welcome to the incredible food, made the drive more than worth it.
Thank you, Mrs. Carter, for sharing your amazing cooking and kindness with us. We don’t live in the state but if we ever visit Louisiana again we will be back!

I like the dining room, large and you can have some privacy or sit with others. Southern cooking, I like it, but I “personally” am not a fan of pepper. Everyone was nice and help me learn their system. It is kind of a café style. You go up to a kind of buffet style counter and they dish up what you want then you take your tray and sit in the dining room. I liked it.

I finally had a chance to visit this place. I was not disappointed. I went there in search of the Chitterlings was is so good they sell out early. Which led me to the Ribs with Potato Salad; I was not mad about it!! So good taste like I was at my mom’s. The Bread pudding is great also. With it’s down home feel & family atmosphere. I will be returning.
