Okay… So, I’m going to start off by saying I’m a bit of a pizza connoisseur (ok.. pizza snob!) In Atlanta (where we’re from) there’s only 2️⃣ places (out of hundreds) where I actually enjoy the pizza. So when I see a 4.8 rating on a small town pizza place in a town like Ellijay I take that w/ a grain of salt
I’ll be darned if this wasn’t one the best darn Pizzas I’ve had in years! Owner operated, not think, not TOO THIN, good sauce, LOTs of cheese, and cooked in an ACTUAL WOOD FIRED OVEN! In Atlanta this would be a $24 pie! . Damn good!
Owner is sweet as well!

Seems like the last couple of times I’ve ordered here, they haven’t had most of what is on their menu. This used to be THE place to order pizza in this area. I think ownership has changed, and it’s just not as good as it used to be in terms of menu availability. The pizza is still excellent, though. They really need to either revise their menu or have better availability for their menu items. Nobody wants to call and hear, “we don’t have any of that, ‘sorry, we are out of that’ for everything they pick.

Pizza was just as good as I remembered it years ago. Very good. The ladies inside were energetic and kind. The only recommendation I would have is to make the exterior a bit more approachable. When we owned a place in Ellijay we would eat here so we knew how good it was. D’lish

We were warmly greeted on our 1st visit. Super sweet employees who are exemplary in customer service- A++
The was pretty dang good. That being said, pizza is very subjective. We tried the Margherita… crust was flavorful, nice chew and the inner tip held up well to the gravity test . Just an opinion- the sauce was a touch too sweet and lacked well roundness in flavor. The sliced tomatoes were just okay. I’d give it a fair 7.75/10 for GA pizza.
• Meatball sliders were good.
• Wings. These fell short, a disappointment for having the oven that ya’ll do. The fat wasn’t rendered, and the skin was rubbery. We had to take them home & pop in the air fryer to enjoy them. Suggestion is to par cook them, and finish in your oven.
If in the area and craving pizza, we’d likely stop in again …customer service is to thank ✨️

A sweet and convenient pizza spot! We were visiting Amicalola Falls and making our way around the area to see Squidbillies, but we were starving and this place was clutch!
Food is solid, but nothing crazy. The restaurant is cozy and has soul to it. We left full and happy :>
The staff were pleasant and despite the poor weather on that day, they were super welcoming!

We did a Google search for some pizza and this place come up. We were hesitant at first because of the river rafting rental signs. The reviews told us to look past it and try it. We were greeted by a hostess that handed us a menu. Our eyes went to the River Rat pizza. Great name for the theme in the establishment. It has bacon, tomatoes, garlic, and basil, This pie was heated to perfection in a wood stove oven. Patience is a virtue. Especially for fresh ingredients and a hand-tossed pie. The outer crust has that crunchiness you expect and dark spots from the oven. The bottom of the slice has some corn meal to keep it from getting burnt and from my experience of eating makes for a better slice. The dough inside was soft, a good compliment to the sweet marinara sauce. The tomatoes are sweet and cut medium, which paired well with the basil, garlic, and bacon. Aldo asked us how we liked the pie. In talking to him we find out he is the new owner and has been opened a week. He has a lot of plans to expand the restaurant. The oven can only bake two pies but more when the expansion is completed. The menu has also been improved with fresher ingredients. If you were disappointed with the previous owner please give Aldo and his menu a try. I think you’ll like it!!

This is a rustic place directly next to the river it’s named for. They know their craft. Handmade pies. Great bake. Worth a trip.

Unsuspecting place to grab food fired pizza and some great appetizers. Nice clean spot on the side of a river. Extremely friendly staff, great looking pizzas and good prices. We also grabbed each of the appetizers, garlic knots, meatball sliders and buffalo chicken sliders and they were amazing. Came with a side of sauce that made the meatball sliders the best thing we have eaten in a while. Thanks for the great experience.
