This was the best food we had on our trip to the island. Our waiter Taylor was really fun and very helpful. Was a beautiful evening and we got to sit outside and watch the ships come in and the moonrise over the water. It looked pretty busy, so I’d recommend getting a reservation if you plan on coming here.

Was lured in by the beautiful floral path to the restaurant. Small wait and we were able to sit outside for the most lovely lunch. My daughter and I split a sandwich and fries and it came out on 2 beautiful Wedgwood plates – so lovely!!
Sandwich was grilled to perfection and the fries were outstanding!
Probably the most expensive glass of wine I’ve ever ordered but so worth it for that lovely outdoor lunch experience A+

This was our second time here, the apps, entree and dessert are phenomenal. Unfortunately the server was not. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but her attitude and demeanor was not pleasant. I believe her name was Andrea from Colorado, and she had a side braid with flowers in her hair. The place is super cute, we love the fine china, and the gorgeous outdoor seating area. The party I was with ordered 2 the French Soups, she brought out 3, and when i told her I didn’t order one, she gave attitude, and her response was “well I’m sure someone in the kitchen will enjoy it instead”, i don’t like French onion Soup, so I know I wouldn’t accidentally order it. Originally I wanted the crab tower but she told me that was not available. My goat cheese salad came with a bacon vinaigrette, I asked for alternative and midway through my salad, I tasted bacon. I also ordered shrimp to go with my salad, and 2 of the 4 were hard to chew. I stopped eating and didn’t get to enjoy the rest of my salad. We ordered the Mushroom and Goat Cheese en Croûte, and never received it. My niece ordered the spaghetti and absolutely loved it. We also ordered the pasta dish, Cesse Fiocchi Pasta, which was mind blowing, a must try, it is heavy, but worth it. We love the dessert here, and wanted to order it again but we were ready to leave due to the servers attitude, she definitely didn’t allow us to enjoy that experience.

I can’t say enough good things about our experience at the Carriage House Restaurant, or their staff and their amazing Food & Beverage Director, Lucy. We chose this venue to have our wedding dinner for 28 guests. Lucy went above and beyond, creating personalized menus for us on their beautiful stationary, putting out favors and place cards and handling our wedding cake. Our guests were able to select their preferred entree and everyone raved about how delicious the food and drinks were. If you are looking to host guests for a special occasion, I highly recommend this establishment.

The Carriage House on Mackinac Island is an absolute gem and easily one of the highlights of our visit to the island. From the moment we arrived, the experience was first-class all the way. The staff was incredibly warm, attentive, and professional—our server struck the perfect balance of being knowledgeable, welcoming, and never overbearing. Everyone from the host to the waitstaff seemed genuinely passionate about creating a memorable dining experience.

The grounds and setting are just stunning. Located right on the waterfront, the views from the outdoor seating area are truly breathtaking. We were seated on the patio surrounded by blooming gardens, overlooking the harbor—a picture-perfect backdrop that added so much charm and elegance to our evening. The gentle sound of horses passing by and the calm lake breeze created a peaceful ambiance that you just can’t find anywhere else.

As for the menu—every bite and sip felt thoughtfully crafted and regionally inspired. We began with cocktails, and the Mezcal Negroni was a bold and smoky twist on a classic—perfectly balanced and ideal for sipping while taking in the view. For starters, the smoked whitefish dip was a must-have: creamy, savory, and rich with just the right amount of smokiness, served with crisp crostini that complemented it perfectly.

For our mains, the grilled shrimp and asparagus salad was fresh and vibrant, dressed lightly to let the sweetness of the shrimp and the seasonal crunch of asparagus shine. The Mackinac whitefish sandwich was another highlight—fresh-caught, lightly breaded, and served on a soft bun with a zesty remoulade. It was simple but done with finesse. The steak sandwich was hearty and indulgent, featuring tender slices of beef cooked to order, topped with caramelized onions and served with fries that were crispy and golden. For a vegetarian option, the portobello and zucchini sandwich was deeply satisfying—grilled perfectly and layered with flavor, it didn’t feel like a compromise at all.

Every dish felt like it was prepared with care and attention to local ingredients. The presentation was clean and elegant, and the pacing of the meal allowed us to relax and soak in the atmosphere.

Whether you’re visiting Mackinac Island for the first time or returning for the hundredth, the Carriage House is a must-dine destination. It’s the perfect combination of gracious hospitality, culinary excellence, and unbeatable scenery. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Delicious meal on the water with great views. We really enjoyed our steaks and crab cake appetizer special. My husband had an impressive smoked old fashioned which he greatly enjoyed. Great for a special occasion dinner with live piano music. Our last dinner before leaving the island, glad we saved it for last

We had an unforgettable dining experience at the Carriage House Restaurant on Mackinac Island. Everything from the setting to the service was exceptional. The view of the water, elegant ambiance, and warm hospitality made it a standout evening for our family.

The pasta with shrimp was a highlight—our 18 year old daughter declared it the best meal she’s ever had. The whitefish was perfectly prepared, and the decadent cream puff ice cream sundae could easily be shared by four. Every course was thoughtfully presented and delicious.

We were celebrating three generations together—marking a promotion and our daughter’s acceptance to MSU—and the Carriage House made the evening feel truly special. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals and experiences we’ve ever had.

We sat outside and loved the view and tables had sufficient privacy. We were not a fan of the spinach salad (Im not a huge fan of spinnach). Our filats were cooked perfectly and tasted wonderfully.
I would recommend this as your main high end eatery on the island.

Celebrated my mother’s birthday here and every part of the meal was fantastic. The large windows overlooking the water were impressive and they had live piano music playing throughout dinner. Our server, Steve from PA, was one of the best servers I have ever had. He perfectly balanced attentiveness with allowing us time alone to enjoy our meal. He was very knowledgeable about allergies, gave great recommendations and had a fun personality.

Everything we ate was spectacular. The lavash crackers and bread they bring before the meal were warm and the butter had salt on top which brought it to the next level. We started with a French onion soup and the goat cheese salad. Both were great, especially the salad. The bacon dressing tasted exactly how it sounds and paired perfectly with the goat cheese.

Entrees at the table were Filet, Porkchop, NY Strip, and the Seafood Pasta. Each one was perfectly prepared. The Filet was one of the best I have ever had, cooked to a perfect medium rare and was extremely tender. The potato served under it was full of flavor and the Bernaise sauce was the perfect consistency and taste. The Porkchop was well cooked and served with wild rice. There was a cherry flavor present throughout the dish which I enjoyed. The seafood pasta was packed with meat and the sauce was lighter for a tomato sauce, which is how it should be when accompanying delicate seafood. The NY Strip was gluten free and prepared celiac safe. The vegetables and twice baked potato were also delicious.

For dessert we had the Hot Fudge Cream Puff and Orange Almond Cake. Both are a great option to finish off the evening. The almond cake is very fresh but does taste heavily of orange so be prepared.

Overall this was one of the best restaurants I have been to. The View, Service, and Food were all exceptional. I highly recommend this place if you want a nice meal on the island.

We came here for brunch as soon as we got off the ferry. Sitting on the patio is amazing with beautiful views of the water. The service was fast and friendly. Our food came out hot and tasted really good. It was a perfect start to our day on the island.
