We had a chance to try a variety of dishes at Carolina BBQ Kitchen, and everything was really solid. The ribs were tender and flavorful, the wing nachos were a fun twist, and the hush puppies were some of the best we’ve had. The smokehouse burger and pulled pork were both packed with smoky flavor. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food here. We didn’t get a chance to try the brisket this time, but we’ll definitely be going back for it.

The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was flavorful, perfectly prepared, and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in our group. On top of that, their staff was outstanding. Everyone was friendly, efficient, and incredibly attentive throughout our visit. Shout out to the team for accommodating our RSVP request for 25 people. We truly appreciated your flexibility and attention to detail which made our experience seamless and stress free.

As a Texan, I’m always VERY reluctant to try a barbecue joint out of my home state since usually it leads to disappointment but I have to say, this place is pretty dang good! I tried “The Texan”, because of course I had to, which surprisingly is a chicken sandwich! While I’m curious as to why “The Texan” is a chicken sandwich, don’t let that deter you my fellow Texans that somehow find their way from home, it was amazingly delicious! The sauce they use is spot on, the slaw was tangy but not bitter, thick sliced pickles, chicken cooked tender and with the right amount of breading, and the bun soaked up the juices just enough to keep it together! Maybe I can’t speak on their brisket or pulled pork but if they do that good with a chicken sandwich I can only imagine and I regret my stomach isn’t big enough to have eaten more from the menu! Hopefully I get a chance to come back and try other things on their menu and if I can’t, I’ve got two bottles of their “Moonshine” sauce to take home with me as they sell all of their sauces! As an added bonus, the place was clean, well-maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly which I always can appreciate! Thanks for the great food and service, y’all!

I bought a catering tray for work, ordered a couple of days in advance. I got the order for 11:00 AM. I got there a bit early. They unlocked the door at 11:00 sharp and I had my order and was on my way by 11:06 AM. Hot, fresh and very good. Pulled pork, Brisket, chicken, and ribs. The sides were perfect besides my own personal preference to keep my black olives and my tater salad separate. I took the unfinished food home, heated it up for lunch today for the family and my daughter just asked to eat here for her 8th birthday. Great job and thank you guys for making so many people happy.

After taking customers out to lunch at Carolina’s and ordering catering for meetings, I have to say the customer service is great. We had a large group for dining in and all the food was brought out at the same time. The catering was delivered on time and the delivery person helped me set it out and was super friendly.

When we dined it, I ordered the sample platter and it fed me for the next 2 days. I ordered the wings with sauce on the side and honestly, they don’t even need sauce. The ribs were perfect.

I ordered their catering package for 10-12 people and it was all so delicious. The Mac and Cheese is amazing!

I lived in the Reno area for years before finally stopping in for lunch one day—and I’m kicking myself for not going sooner. The barbecue is absolutely fantastic, but I have to be honest: the fried catfish stole my heart. It’s that good. The sides are just as impressive—especially the mac & cheese and collard greens, which are must-haves every time. We loved it so much that I even had them cater my son’s graduation party a few years back, and they knocked it out of the park. This place is a true little slice of the South right here in the Wild West.

Full disclosure: I am a native of Western NC.

This is an interesting take on Eastern NC BBQ. I had the pulled pork (technically, the staple of Eastern NC BBQ is chopped pork), two pork ribs, fries, chili, cornbread, and sweet tea. Since it was Friday they offered fried cod so I had a piece as well. And peach cobbler. Of course, I had to take some of it home.

The pulled pork has a good flavor, vinegar based, and served sopping wet in its own little tray. That was unusual to me as traditional Eastern NC BBQ is served dry, with sauces on the table. So an oddity there but no big deal. The ribs and peach cobbler were decent. The fish is fine although thin and with a heavy British style batter.

The chili seems like some type of beef and tomato stew completely covered in cheese and is outside the bounds of what I think of when I think of chili. To my surprise, there is no ground beef whatsoever. Not bad, just unexpected. And more similar to a stew in consistency than a typical chili from say Texas, the South, or Cincinnati where ground beef is the main ingredient.

This is the first BBQ restaurant I’ve been in with no BBQ sauces on the table. To start, you have to order your meal from a video screen at the counter and one of the screens requires you to pick one from four BBQ sauces available: hot, mild, mustard based, and “moonshine”??? So I just went with the traditional South Carolina mustard-based sauce. I still have no idea what the mysterious “moonshine” sauce is all about. Or how hot the hot is. Or how flavorful the mild is. You get to pick one. Guessing in the wind unless you’ve been before and know already.

The verdict: decent, several oddities, no hush puppies that I know of, odd hours (they close at 7:00 pm on Friday, 5:00 pm on Saturday and 4:00 pm Tue-Thu). Skip the fish and chili. Try the ribs. Consider the cobbler.

Went in looking for some brisket and opted for the family meal. It has brisket, sausage, chicken and ribs. All enough for four. Also cornbread and two large sides. Best BBQ I have brisket you could cut with the plastic fork, the ribs literally peeled off the bone (leaving nothing but the bone), the sausage was juicy with a little spice and the chicken was good. You have your choice of sauce spicy or sweet whatever your presence. I am not from the area but if I come to Tahoe again it is definitely worth the hour ride. The service and crew were also very nice and accommodating.

The service has been amazing and we are only on day 2. The food is being prepared over an hour away and still shows up fresh and hot. We are feeding 80 people twice a day. Breakfast is served before 7am lunch is around 11:30. The early morning preparation and delivery has been amazing by this team. Carolina BBQ gave us a 10 day menu and will be on my list of food delivery on these type jobs whenever I have the opportunity. Prices are fair and the service is perfect. Constant communication, great personalities and great food. I would rate them 10/10.
