Natcha Chotnoparatpat
My new go-to Mexican place!!
If you want no-frills, family-style, authentic Mexican food, run here!! don’t walk! The 1 lb Carnitas was so worth it. It comes with a dozen of tortillas, salsas, and toppings. Can feed two people easily.
I was most amazed by the Corundas (cheese tamales). I’ve had many tamales, but didn’t know it can be this flavorful and complex.
Also, don’t sleep on Horchata Cafe. The combination of the cinnamony rice flavor and the coffee is so good. The coffee they use is also such good quality.
I ordered through Uber and missed a bag of chips. Called the restaurant directly, and the manager actually drove to deliver the missing chips plus extra food himself within 10 mins. Top notch services!!

As soon as you walk in you can tell it was going to be good just by the smell. I got carnitas they also give you a little bit to sample. Will be going back soon to try their corundas and get more carmitas of course.

I was in Chicago for a few days and decided to visit Pilsen.I spent the day before walking to the Art Institute and the surrounding area and was looking forward to something a bit more relaxed. I was pointed to Carnitas Uruapan for lunch and all i can say is Wow! Waited in line to order and the young man behind the counter, gave me a sample of the Carnitas. Best I ever tasted. I ordered the Carnitas especial and everything was awesome. I attached a picture which really doesn’t do it justice. Everything has to be to go as they don’t have tables but there’s a nearby park.. I sat on a bench and on the other end were 3 other people that were doing the same thing as me… eating wonderful Carnitas. What a great experience. Go to Pilsen, check out the murals and swing by fur the carnitas!! You wont be disappointed.

It’s really good, but there’s a lot of good carnitas in the neighborhood. I felt a little dumb ordering because it seemed like everyone else there’s knew exactly what they were doing except for me. No one was particularly helpful or in a good mood, even when we switched to Spanish. Also, you better REALLY like pork because that’s all there is, carnitas, chicharrones, tacos dorados. You should know what you’re getting into though if “carnitas” is in the name of the restaurant. The guacamole and salsa were really good. It’s a cool experience and everything was pretty good but I’m not really sure what makes this place so much more famous than the others around here.

Carnitas especially meal may possibly be the best deal in Chicago, I love how they give you a big lump of meat while you are ordering. Delicious carnitas.

This establishment is one I’ll never get tired of supporting. My family and I have been customers for as long as I can remember. Every Sunday, this is our “must” and easily our way of gathering. We easily spend $100-175. They are the most tender and well seasoned carnitas.
We always get greeted by the owner with the best Cajeta lollipops! Don Martin is normally the one serving the meat and he gives us exactly what we order and more.
I’ll never not recommend this spot!

Understandably a carnitas institution. Each taco came loaded with rich, fatty carnitas. I just wish they used handmade tortillas. You can tell that they were store-bought. The salsas were decent. The meat was definitely the star here. The chicharrón was perfectly crispy and full of that lip-smacking porky flavor.

We were in town for a few shows and we stopped by and were not disappointed. the owner was out greeting every guest and was so kind and even offered us a free chicharrón when he realized we were from out of state! the carnitas were excellent along with the iced cafe de olla. the taste and experience is so authentic. I am looking forward to visiting again next time I am in Chicago!
