We’ve been wanting to come try this place for a while and we’re so glad that we finally did. We had such a great meal!

The bowl of chicken soup was enormous but was very homey and warm.
We also ordered chicken wings as an appetizer – they are truly fresh made to order and really good, highly recommend. We got them naked with the bbq sauce and buffalo sauce both on the side. Even their sauces taste homemade from scratch, not the prebottled kind.
Peter’s Special (corned beef and wagyu pastrami) was a very special highlight – really delicious, not overly salty, and the portion was so big that after my husband and I devoured it, we still had leftovers for lunch the next day. I don’t even normally like deli sandwiches but I loved this.
We also got a kid’s macaroni and cheese for our son but even that was made really well, brought out in a cast iron with a crunchy breadcrumb topping. Our son had two servings because he loved it so much.
Finally, we couldn’t leave without trying the OMG 24 layer chocolate cake. It’s a very good chocolate cake, moist and sweet and huge and delicious. My only regret is not getting ice cream to go along with it. Can’t wait to come back and try the other cakes.

Highly recommend for an elevated diner experience!

The ambiance inside is amazing and provides a very live and appealing decor. It fits very nice with the menu.

The shrimp was fried but not greasy at all. Great job at frying it. The steak and eggs was excellent cooked exactly as I wanted it (should have gone medium though) and the chicken in the chicken sandwich was one of the juiciest chickens ive tried.

Nice looking spot in a cool hip plaza area. I sat at the bar and the service was great. Problem was the food. The chicken and waffles left much to be desired. Chicken tasted undercooked and waffles were soggy and plain. Chicken also had no taste or seasoning. I also tried the 24 layer chocolate cake. I’m sorry but it was not good at all. It looks amazingly rich while displayed but tastes like artificial sweetener. Medicine like after taste in my opinion. Price isn’t bad for the amount of cake you get but the fact it’s super popular is perplexing. 3 stars bc the service was very professional. I didn’t send anything back but probably won’t be eating here again.

Food was worth the wait !! We arrived and for 6 was about 20 minutes +. Parking lot was pretty packed as well due to being in a busy business complex. Entrees were all tasty. The only suggestion was the beef burger didn’t have seasoning. It’s was good just no seasoning or flavor but huge. 23 layer chocolate cake was delicious and rich. Giant cookies were good as well. Other ppl in my party ordered bologna pasta, chicken and a Rueben and everyone really enjoyed their meals.

This is a nice spot. Definitely has a lot of variety as far as food, and the decor and overall vibe is pretty nice. It was busy! We had to wait about 20 minutes but not a huge deal. There were definitely some issues though.

The good:
The portions were enormous! With the pancakes, you get three giant pancakes and with some of the other foods, the plates were really large for your money is worth so it seems like you got a pretty good deal. The desserts are also very good. Also, the manager or Owner came over to check on us and make sure that we were doing OK which I appreciated.

The bad:
we tried the steak omelette. The portion was large, however the steak was very bland. The burger was a good size, to be expected . My wife asked for eggs and avocado on the side, and they charged us $5 for the eggs and another $5 for half of an avocado. On top of that , the server failed to mention that the gratuity was already included and the service was pretty average so it would have been nice to know that.

Overall, a decent experience but room for improvement.

Carnegie in Vienna delivers across the board. The food is solid, the service is genuinely great, and they clearly know how to take care of different dietary needs. Plenty of vegetarian options, and non-dairy milks are actually offered—not treated like a special favor.

The 24-layer chocolate cake deserves its own paragraph. Absolute unit. Rich, indulgent, and easily feeds 10 people unless you’re surrounded by very determined dessert people.

It gets busy, so making a reservation is a great idea. Parking can be a little tricky, but that’s just standard Vienna reality. Overall, well worth the visit and one you’ll want to plan ahead for.

First time visitor. Stopped in to have a corned beef sandwich. The Ruben was very tasty, the meat very lean and thinly sliced. Exactly what we were looking for!

I recently stopped by Carnegie Diner & Café and tried Peter’s Special, which comes with half a pound of corned beef and half a pound of wagyu pastrami. The sandwich was really good — flavorful, juicy, and satisfying. As a transplant from New York, I’ll admit that Katz’s Deli still holds the crown for pastrami in my book, but this definitely hit the spot and brought back that classic deli vibe I’ve been missing.

We also had the blueberry pancakes, which came topped with fresh blueberries and strawberries. They were light, fluffy, and a perfect sweet finish to the meal.

The restaurant itself had a lively, bustling atmosphere, and the decor was stylish and definitely Instagram-worthy, making it a fun spot to enjoy a meal or snap a few photos. Overall, Carnegie Diner & Café delivers generous portions, great flavors, and a vibrant NYC-style experience that’s hard to beat.

We came here as a family and group of 7… We were promptly seated, but we did have reservations. Our server was great, very helpful and attentive. Their menu is quite big, with lots of sandwiches and brunch items. We each started with their fresh squeeze orange juice, which was really good. Their coffee is quite nice as well.
Next was the entrées and those were all huge! Their sandwiches are really big, especially the club. I tried their Pastrami with egg sandwich (the Egg-Strami Sandwich) – so very good! The pastrami was moist, had a nice smoke to it, but very tender and flavorful!

Would definitely return!!

The ambience and the location is all good. Ample free parking too. I loved the little desert corner they have to see those delicious pies and cakes they have to offer. Overall 10/10 for that. The decor is eye pleasing. A good first date spot. The food however was disappointing. The appetizers between calamari and nachos, calamari was a win while the spinach dip did not hit the spot. My husband and son did enjoy their meal not to the level of expectation we had from the place but yeah they did get to finish their plate. My omelet however was a sad let down. It had a weird metallic bad griddle bad oil taste to it and ruined it for me within the first bite so I requested them to take it back. They were apologetic and did not charge me for it and also offered a free desert for the mishap which I’m grateful for. The desert was a slice of cheesecake and it was delicious. I would still recommend the place for its hospitality, service and clean soothing ambience. Maybe it was just my tough luck.
