Carmel’s was founded by the 1st family of Mexican dining in Toledo. Our Margarita recipe… what we call our “Toledo Style” is a family recipe brought to this country at the turn of the century. It utilizes only fresh juices and fine Tequila never a pre~mix like most. We do make them in large batches to preserve this secret recipe for all these years. Our food as well is steeped in family tradition. We make everything fresh in house even the Tamales! That’s what really sets us apart is our commitment to quality and tradition.

Great food, service and ambiance! Tons of marg flavors. Jukebox. Patio. My nephew loves the crane game. The home made salsa they bring out is perfect!

Some of the orders in our group were the wet burrito, chicken chimichanga & taco salad. Everything was fresh. They had fresh warm chips & salsa. Great service. Lots of seating for big or small groups. Food was tasty. We had lunch on a Sunday afternoon.

Arrrived at 12:30 – waited to be seated – only one person for restaurant & bar. After bringing our beverages & salsa/chips- she disappeared. Seated two other parties in same area after our arrival. Took other parties order, ignored our table. After waiting for 20 minutes, went looking for her- no where to b found. Five minutes later, she brings out the orders for the other parties, ignores us & walks away. At 1 pm – I leave $10 on table for beverages etc & start to leave. She stops us as we are leaving -saying she is coming to get our order. I said why? U served two other tables before us. Reply: I am the only one here & doing my rounds- what ? We r at a table in same area. Despicable service.

Just picked up some takeout from Carmel’s and of course, all the food is hot fresh and amazing there Birria tacos are probably one of the best or if not the best in Toledo,

The only thing good about this place is the history lesson and the grilled chicken for the spicy chicken taco (I actually ordered a fajita taco but they gave me that). The shredded chicken is terrible. They were short staffed so service was extremely slow. I will probably never come back here. Found disgusting meat in my chicken taco. Their unsweetened tea was the worst I have ever had. Husband ordered the beef taco and got a chunk of fat. The taco meat was unexplainable. I guess to each it’s on.

Having moved back to the area from Arizona, I had mentioned to a friend that I would love to find a place with a decent margarita. They recommended Carmel’s as an option. While I rarely eat at the same restaurant twice in the same week, I had such an overall wonderful experience, and enjoyed the food so much, I went back (to Carmel’s) two days after my first visit. Both times were weekdays, both times the parking lot was almost full; and yet both visits I was impressed with the great experience from both the waitresses, and the fast service from the bar & kitchen! The food portions and flavors were very satisfying. I had the Burralada the first time, and the Wet Burrito the second time. Also, I tried a couple of the special appetizers and limited time dessert. Loved every one of them! The margaritas were enjoyable as well, and didn’t give me the fatigue and heartburn that some margs give me (I suspect they use a higher shelf Tequila here). Lots of options of margs. Between my two visits I tried the Peach (my favorite), Mango (also very good! ), Strawberry (decent), and Raspberry (personally won’t get again as it was more a ‘candy Raspberry flavor; and I prefer a more natural taste). Vicky and Veronica (servers) took great care of me on my visits, and both times management (Roger) checked in as well to ensure I was content with everything. I’ve already been recommending this place to family, friends, and co-workers, and will most certainly be back!

We got the Taco Bar catering pack for an at-home party. The spread was impressive – beef, chicken, all the toppings, shells and chips. The Taco Bar was a hit – it all tasted delicious. While its supposed to be for 20 people, with a few more taco shells it could serve 30 people. The best part is the value – lots of good food for an amazingly low price. I recommend the Taco Bar catering pack for your party.
