The food was outstanding from start to finish. We began with the Fried Calamari, which was perfectly tender and lightly crisp. For mains, we ordered the Lobster Ravioli, which had a nice kick and was generously stuffed with lobster. Each ravioli was packed with filling and topped with large shrimp, making the dish feel indulgent and thoughtfully prepared.
We also had the Frutti di Mare, which was incredibly flavourful. All of the seafood tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. Every dish felt vibrant and well balanced.
It is easy to see why this spot is always jammed packed. The quality speaks for itself. We cannot wait to return the next time we are in Boston.
For starters, the meatballs are a must. Truly some of the best I’ve had—the sauce was incredible and the meat was so tender. My favorite entree might have been the mushroom penne. The breadcrumbs were amazing and it was rich. They didn’t skimp on the mushrooms either!
Pricey – a bit
Worth it – 100% !!
It’s best to make a reservation, or leave your number and they’ll text you when table is available.
Super friendly service, and the open kitchen is a great touch.
The warm starter bread is very tasty, and a great way to wipe your plate at the end (and you will wipe it).
Tried the Fettuccine Carmelina:
– generous portion
– Rosemary was just enough to taste it, but not overpowering
– Shrimp, scallops, and plenty of chicken, and sausage
Next time it’ll be either the Bolognese or the Crazy Alfredo.
Absolutely loved Carmelina’s and would highly recommend it.
One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Boston, hands down. The food at Carmelina’s was absolutely amazing—every dish was on point. The staff was warm, attentive, and made the whole night feel effortless, and the atmosphere struck that perfect balance between lively and intimate.
Pro tip: book your reservation well in advance. Even sitting at the bar was an experience in itself—watching the chefs cook in the open kitchen was honestly magical. If you’re looking for a memorable meal in Boston, Carmelina’s is a must.
New England Trip, January 2026. Day 4. Woke up to light snow. Started the day off with one final breakfast at the Waldo Emerson Inn. Avocado Toast and a yogurt parfait. Drove down to Boston, checked in to our hotel, and then had a late lunch/early dinner in Little Italy in downtown Boston. Our rental car clerk had recommended that we visit Carmellina’s Restaurant. Wow! What a divine dining experience! My wife started off with some sangria as I sipped a Peroni. For appetizers, we had the Tuna Arrabbiata and a garden salad. For the main course, Dao had the Scampi, and I had Tonno Siciliano. Every dish was cooked to perfection, and the service was impeccable, even though the restaurant was packed, and there was a line waiting outside as we left. I highly recommend making a reservation if you are coming after 4:00 PM.
The food was easily some of the best we’ve ever had at an Italian restaurant.
The Crazy Alfredo was absolutely unforgettable — rich, creamy, and unlike any Alfredo I’ve ever tasted before. Honestly, unless I come back here, I don’t think I’ll ever have Alfredo like that again. The Chicken Parmigiana was equally amazing — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor.
The service was exceptional from start to finish, attentive without being overbearing, and the entire experience felt both relaxed and special.
If you’re anywhere near this area, Carmelina’s is a must. You won’t be disappointed!
