Service: This location uses AI to run its drive through and the system is terrible. Slow and doesn’t work very well when asking answering it out of sequence or if you need to make changes to your meal. Once I completed the order it kept on repeating itself and I ended up driving up to the front to finish up. The interaction with the staff was ok and simple. Another issue is that the system is very quiet for a location right at a busy intersection. It was raining very frankly and just made it a very unpleasant experience
Food: I still have a spot in my heart (or stomach) for a western bacon cheeseburger. The food was pretty good for fast food and no complaints
Ambiance: The vibe is very standard mid tier fast food drive through. We didn’t go inside but it looked pretty clean. The screen they used to read back orders is small cluttered and hard to read.
Food is pretty standard and service matched my expectations the AI system that are using for orders is terrible. I understand why they have it but if they are adopting this as a standard it needs to be faster and more responsive and properly calibrated for the location.
Actual story of my experience: Never thought I’d be one to place an online review for a Carl’s Jr. but here we are. Tonight I placed a mobile drive through order through the app since it’s the only way to get reasonable prices for this franchise nowadays; I got the 2 triple burgers (a triple famous star and a triple western bacon burger) for $14 and a snack stash for $5.99 (I chose a small fry which lets me choose a ketchup, and 2 waffle fries for which I chose a ranch and a bbq sauce cup to go with them). Keep in mind these sauces are included with the item free of charge.
When I went to pick up said order through the drive through, a guy gives me the order after confirming the name is correct and I thanked him for handing over the order, which must of thrown him off cause he closed the window only to open it back up to say thanks you too. Now before I left, I checked my order in case anything was missing or was given the wrong order and noticed I did not get any sauces that were included in my online order. No big deal, it happens. So I tried to flag someone through the window to get the missing sauces. A couple minutes wasted as no one even looked and I had to get back around the drive through (at least it was empty) and I still had to wait another couple minutes for someone to get to the window. This time an older lady comes to the window and tries to confirm if I got such and such order, and I tell her no thats probably the person behind me, I just wanted to get the sauces that were missing from my order. On one hand, the lady actually did her due diligence and looked up my order, on the other hand, she told me everything was fine. I told her no, I was missing the sauces and asked if she could give them to me. She then proceeds to tell me, no those sauces, “You have to pay for.” I then told her that, “Sure, I understand if I wanted extra sauces that I would have to pay for them but these were included in the order already and that I just wanted what was missing from my order.” I felt this was fair and reasonable even if I just wasted 5 minutes trying to get sauces, it happens, we are all human.
Turns out no, it doesn’t just happen. This lady proceeds to argue with me that sauces all cost extra and that was why I didn’t get them and now I have to pay for them if I want them. I had to argue with her for another minute saying I don’t need to pay extra for items already in my order, an order which she reprinted the receipt and can clearly see the sauces included. She countered with the only things that come with sauces are the fried vegetables and onion rings. I looked her in the eyes and said its in the order and the item I ordered comes with sauces included I don’t know why I have to argue about sauces. I kid you not when said lady actually looked at the car behind me and back at me and actually sighed and asked which sauces I wanted. I could’ve joked that she should look at the receipt which she tried to refer like it was a freakin’ gospel but I was just exasperated and wanted to go home before everything got cold. I just told her I wanted my ranch and bbq sauce, not even trying to argue anymore for ketchup since I have it at home.
Not only did I have to waste 5+ minutes trying to get their attention over what I thought were just sauces missing from my order but argue with them over it. I still can’t believe I had to argue with a Carl’s Jr. employee over getting sauces that were included in my order which she wanted me to pay extra for.
Thanks to their wonderful treatment and attention to detail, by the time I actually ate, me and my brother got to enjoy cold and soggy waffle fries and somewhat warm burgers.
