This was our first time here. I would describe it as your local hole in the wall. It’s not much to look at. It’s very small and and almost shabby. Our food came in styrofoam containers with plastic silverware. That being said the food was PERFECT!!! Just the right amount of heat. If this were closer to home I would eat here once a week!! I don’t need fancy, just good food and this is it! The portions were good and the price was inexpensive. We both had lunch for under $30. We’ll definitely go back.

After finally entering this hole in the box BBQ joint, I was immediately intrigued. The homespun energy was evident, and the Jamaican vibe , completely authentic. Looking at the menus, I realized there was not exactly what I craved, so the chef improvised. She whipped up a chopped pork dinner with tons of rice, cabbage , an a nice hi t of BBQ sauce. She rung me up at just over $12 for this huge pile of home goodness.
I made my own Fresh Garden Tomato and Basil salad at home , and dug right in.

Jerk chicken was moist, tender, and bursting with flavor and heat. Perfect amount of spice and generous portion size. Platter included rice with some curry drizzled atop and stewed veggies, all delicious. The owner came by to ask me how I liked it, if the spice level was ok, etc attentive but in a genuine way.

I placed an order for pickup on a Friday night and as usual was not disappointed. This is my favorite Jamaican restaurant in the area and they always provide high quality food. I got a jerk chicken and jerk pork and the food was ready in 15min. I was able to park right outside and the food was freshly being removed from the grill. Both meats were juicy and not at all dry. The gravy over the rice really makes this dish and adds a great level of spice. The added cabbage also provides some good flavor with the savory bites. For the price, about $27, we for a huge amount of food. I’d highly recommend a stop in.

Just paid $15 for ox tail and they didn’t even bother to cut out the fat. When ordering oxtail I usually expect that the meals don’t always come with a lot of meat but usually the flavor makes up for it. This oxtail not only had about 60% of fat on it but didn’t have much flavor at all. Highly disappointed and waisted my money. Don’t bother ordering the oxtail.

Carl’s has great food, wonderful staff and the portions are large and in charge. Beverage offerings are great and fresh desserts are available daily. If you ask, you’ll be steered toward the day’s highlights, and you won’t be disappointed. Requests are accommodated and honored. We’ve been going here for about a generation, and Carl can’t be beat for jerk and bbq.
