Such a good local find! Has a large menu like a deli, solid bagels like your hometown bagel store, and unique coffee and comfy atmosphere like an upscale coffee shop. My favorite part was finding the inside to be spacious and fun to eat in. Usually bagel shops you take out only but this one I would reccomend you sit and enjoy 🙂 My mom and I got the pan de bono sandwich and the hawthorne burrito. We also got a spanish latte and their monthly special which was a fortune cookie latte! Whoever served us our food (not sure if he was one of the owners or something) was so nice and when we told him it was our first time he made our experience extra special. Such amazing service.. we will be back!

i went to carlos’ bagel shop in hawthorne, nj this morning and was not disappointed! right from the moment i walked in, the girl at the register was so lovely and welcoming. truly great customer service!
i ordered the pan de bono breakfast sandwich, an iced coquito chai latte, and a ½ dozen bagels. the pan de bono sandwich was incredible. it was fresh, warm, and full of flavor. the iced coquito chai latte was perfectly spiced and so unique, definitely something i’d come back for.
i came straight from work in my scrubs so the girl at the register gave me the first responders discount, which was such a kind gesture and really made my morning. they also gave me a free mini cup of their chocolate chip cream cheese to try!
the interior was spotless and super cozy with cute decor. it’s the perfect spot to grab breakfast or a coffee and relax. overall, amazing customer service, great food, and such a nice atmosphere. i’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their popular and seasonal menu items!

As a Colombian American, walking into Carlos Bagel Shop in Hawthorne, NJ felt like stepping straight into home. We even got to meet the owner Carlos and his wife Adriana, genuinely some of the kindest, most welcoming people my family and I have ever met. You can feel the love they put into this place.
But the pandebono sandwiches? OH. MY. GOD. Warm, cheesy, soft, and 100% soul-healing. I wasn’t expecting to find a true taste of Colombia in a bagel shop, but they nailed it. Every bite had that comforting, familiar flavor that instantly brought me back to childhood mornings and family kitchens. It literally warmed my heart.
The ambiance and their food is incredible, and you can tell they care deeply about their craft and their customers. This is the kind of spot you tell everybody about.
If you’re anywhere near Hawthorne, RUN, don’t walk. Carlos’ Bagel Shop is officially my new favorite place.

Came here cause it’s trending right now . What caught my attention was the coquito chai & also the apple cider latte with the donut. I went for the chai , my bestie went for the apple cider latte . She didn’t really like it . It was more of a juice flavor than a coffee in her opinion. I did like my ice coquito chai ! And we also had a breakfast wrap . Egg, cheese with potato . It was good.

I recently visited Carlos Bagels and I’m not exaggerating when I say everything was absolutely delicious! We tried the Egg Everything Bagel with Scallion Cream Cheese, the Pandebono Sandwich, Hash Browns, and Buñuelos. Every single bite was flavorful and fresh.
Beyond the food, the service was exceptional. The staff is incredibly polite and they go out of their way to double-check everything to make sure your order is perfect. I truly hope they maintain this high quality and wonderful atmosphere. Wishing them much continued success! Definitely a must-visit spot.

I think my expectations were so high after I saw a review of this bagel shop…. That I went in expecting an awesome sandwich and well, left a little disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, atmosphere excellent. Place is nice and clean. A great place to gather with friends and families. The staff, friendly and helpful. I had the Coquito Latte, good but a little too sweet. What brought me to this place was the Panddebono sandwich and I don’t know… it could be that the sandwich wasn’t hot enough and the cheese was not good. We also ordered a french toast with cream cheese and it was ok. So not a place that I will run to but, if in the area, I would definitely pass by.

Carlos Bagel Shop continues to amaze me every time I visit. I have been coming here for around 3 – almost 4 – years and have not once been let down. The food is delicious, well priced, and the drip is lovely. I have always and continue to appreciate the attention to detail Juliana has put into the space, from the Baked with <3 sign to every thoughtfully branded element. When you have a business like Carlos, a bagel shop in the state of New Jersey, there exists a level of competition unlike many other restaurants. Jersey people take their bagels seriously, and Carlos Bagel Shop knows this and has built an incredible brand around it. I have eaten at as many bagel shops as all of the folks reading this review and if I were to recommend a place to anyone in the world, I would undoubtably recommend this one. It is beautiful to see how well the business has flourished, how the space has changed, and how they continue to challenge and succeed in adding new menu items and a coffee bar. Ya'll - thank you! This place has been a constant for me for many years and I will always love and appreciate it. Wish I still lived in NJ so this could be my daily spot always and forever. Opened in 2022 and located on Lafayette Avenue, I had the honor to attend Session 3 of a special Elite pop-up joining forces with Steph’s Macarons at Carlos Bagel Shop thanks to Sara and the Yelp team.
Upon entering this bright, spacious, and clean interior, my partner and I were greeted by a packed house with the locals. However, one knows that we came to the right place when its two LED-lit-up signs on the walls, “baked with love,” flashed before our eyes.
I found my way to the other side, where Juliana (the owner’s daughter) assisted me and handed me a beautiful box containing the Crème Brûlée Bagel. The bagel was light, airy, not doughy, and tasted on point with the nice burnt sugar.
Returning back, I was greeted by Steph, the owner of Steph’s Macaron, who offered me mini Crème Brûlée Macaron and Strawberry Shortcake Macaron.
The macarons (pronounced “ma-ka-rooms) are thin, flavorful meringue cookies that are sandwiched together with some kind of filling. The meringues are what make these unique. The macarons were crisp on the outside, yet light and chewy on the inside.
If one’s looking for a satisfying breakfast spot with fresh food and a welcoming atmosphere, we recommend this place.

The service the atmosphere and food was good. I had the Juliana iced latte so good with oatmilk nice and strong not overly sweet delicious. We had the O.G and the pan de bono breakfast sandwich didn’t disappoint. We had pan de bono and buñelos they were ok no the best. Overall the first time was great. Thank you.
