Food was delicious, service was amazing and restaurant is beautiful. Definitely family owned, scratch cooking. Went with my son. They gave me a complimentary house made coffee liquor, was delicious. At the end of the meal my had a tiramisu which he loved and they even gave him a complimentary piece to take home.

$27 for Laphroaig should be illegal. It was a 10 year… that one cost $65 a bottle tops. They need to lower the price at least $10. You are still getting a profit at $17 a glass.
The Mafaldine Bolognese was priced at $32. Normal for nicer restaurants. However, my issue is not with the prices at all. The pasta was under seasoned and the bolognese sauce was the consistency of hot dog chili sauce. They may have put an immersion blender on the sauce bowl and emulcified all the meats into a paste. The texture was very off putting. This could have at least been redeemed if the flavor was there but it just was not. It lacked salt overall. But there was no pepper, no fennel, no basil, garlic, onion, etc. The sauce had no flavor standing out. Not even meat flavored. At least throw chicken bouillon. It was more like a bland tomato gravy sauce. I typically have issues with the noodles being overdone but the noodles here were cooked al dente. I also enjoyed the fact that they offered Mafaldine. The overall atmosphere was nice. It was packed to the max when I went but it was good to see them busy and people enjoying themselves. The staff was friendly and very attentive. Overall a good vibe but not worth the price they charge. There are better restaurants that charge less.
I will note that the pizza there looked delicious. Maybe that is worth trying. 🙂

The chicken parm is amazing! Generous portion and delicious red sauce. We also really enjoyed the arancini and the Bucatini Amatriciana.

Some of these reviews feel pretty off base. Try it for yourself! The prices felt more than fair for the quality of food and the service. My only note is that it does get fairly loud inside when it’s crowded.

Went here after seeing the new DOWNTON ABBEY movie at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute (loved it!!). Our booth was spacious and loved the little curtains behind our heads providing a small barrier. Our server was terrific! So accommodating when my friend had dietary restrictions and requests. We enjoyed the crab wedge salad, shared a delicious seafood pasta dish, and then enjoyed the grilled scallops. We were too full to get dessert, but they looked amazing!!!!! Only complaint is that with the bar right near us, the noise level was pretty high.

We have become recent regulars at Carina Sorella due to the outstanding food, drinks, and atmosphere, but I felt compelled to come leave a review here tonight particularly because of the significant impression that was left on us by the service we received and the way the staff treated us during our reservation this evening.

There was an error with our food ticket (which I must emphasize is a rare one-off in our experience at this restaurant), and while this may have put a damper on our dining experience elsewhere, we were treated with such a high level of communication, respect, kindness, and accountability by our server – more than we even felt like we deserved – that this error resulted in us having an overwhelmingly positive experience instead.

Our server went above and beyond for us and I find that this level of customer service, communication, and compassion is special and hard to come by. We left feeling like we were treated with unprecedented respect, and we can add this to the list of reasons why we will continue giving our well-deserved business to Carina Sorella. Thank you!

Outstanding experience!! The food was amazing with an excellent selection of wine and craft cocktails to match. Tuna Crudo, piccata, short rib, panna cotta were to die for. Our server was prompt and knowledgeable, as well as very personable. Mangers on the floor did an excellent job of ensuring our experience was great.

Thank you for a wonderful evening

Much bigger than the original with a spacious bar and plenty of tables. Parking meter out front but need quarters not credit card and the restaurant can’t help as they don’t either. No ticket thankfully. Happy hour is nice. Sat at bar. Meatballs were great. Cacio du Pepe was okay. Rigatoni and sausage our favorite. Caesar salad was huge, better than most versions.

I visited this restaurant for my friend’s birthday some time ago, and it was a charming little spot. The decor was very Italian-inspired, which contributed to the overall ambiance of the place. It had nice big windows that let in plenty of natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. As for the food, some dishes were enjoyable, while others missed the mark. However, it’s worth noting that the service was truly fantastic. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring everyone had a great overall experience. Heads Down, they really did have great customer service.

To start, we had Caesar salad and pizza, which were great, and the presentation was good, too. Alongside this order, we received a bread board for the table. Although it had a cute display, they provided a small piece of bread that barely had anything on it, which, in my opinion, was not worth the price. I think I took a small bite of the bread, and then I was done. Others mutually agreed; it just wasn’t what we expected. When it came to the main course, I ordered scallops, and unfortunately, they were overcooked and lacked flavor. Out of the four scallops, I may have been able to eat one and a half because I just couldn’t finish them. They looked like they would be delicious, but sadly, they did not meet our expectations. However, the desserts we had were great. The staff even brought out a special dessert for the person celebrating their birthday, which I thought was really thoughtful. The attention to detail in both presentation and service truly elevated the overall dining experience. I would say it was hard to give this rating because the service was truly excellent, but the food overall fell short in the few items we had; others at the table felt similar about their meals as well.

Really good pizza. GF pasta was excellent, not gritty or mushy, like a lot of GF pasta.

We sat at the bar and Kayla was our server. She was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about GF options and the GF experience in a restaurant.

We were there on two weekdays in the winter. Seating was not an issue. However, on a weekend, or in nicer weather, I’d recommend a reservation.

We will be back the next time we are in Bryn Mawr.

Carina Sorella exceeded my expectations! The Caesar salad was absolutely delicious, and the Hugo spritz was so refreshing and perfectly made. While the frozen espresso martini wasn’t my favorite flavor-wise, the presentation was beautiful and it really just came down to personal preference. Overall, everything from the food to the drinks and experience was excellent. We definitely plan to go back.
