Today was another example. I ordered the same drinks I always do — three were made correctly and quickly — but the Campfire Mocha took about ten minutes longer. It looked like they had to remake it, maybe because they used the wrong chocolate again. Even then, the final drink seemed to be made with milk chocolate and missing the extra shot.
It’s frustrating because instead of owning the mistake, they hand it over like I won’t notice. At this point, I’m done trying to go back and get it fixed. I’ve given this location more than enough chances, but they never take responsibility or seem willing to learn how to make the drink properly. Sadly, this might be my last visit for a Campfire Mocha with white chocolate and extra shot from this location.
At 9:19 AM, we ordered five drinks totaling $38.21. When we arrived at our event, we discovered that three of the drinks were poorly made—missing both coffee and flavor—making them undrinkable. The other two were prepared correctly.
At 9:53 AM, I called the number listed for the store and spoke with an employee named Alia, who was polite and helpful. She took my name and offered to remake the drinks or issue a refund. However, when we returned to the Fridley location and I showed the phone number I had called, the employee we spoke with—named Hulli (with tattoos)—rudely stated, “That’s not our number.” It was then I realized I had mistakenly contacted the Woodbury location instead.
Despite showing Hulli a timestamped American Express transaction clearly indicating the Fridley location, she continued to demand a printed receipt, which we did not have. Instead of listening to my concern, she immediately got on the phone with her manager, Jess, and repeatedly said, “These customers won’t leave because they want free drinks.” She eventually handed me a card with Jess’s phone number, then escalated the situation further by threatening to call the police if I didn’t leave.
I also attempted to show her additional proof via Apple Pay, but she remained dismissive. To avoid further escalation—and to not waste law enforcement’s time over a few cups of coffee—we chose to leave and contacted Caribou’s corporate office to report the incident. While we’ve had good experiences here in the past, this encounter has left us deeply disappointed, and we will not be returning to this location.
I couldn’t see the icon on the map, so I wish it were bigger 🙁
