Super super good! We passed through Gary to head to the Dunes and this place did NOT disappoint. I got the Dominican Chicken dinner and the chicken was so so flavorful and warm. My mother got the Jerk Chicken Bowl with plantains and it was amazing as well. They also have super sweet and savory cornbread. I would definitely recommend this place!

I stopped in to pick up the Oxtail Dinner on the NYE menu. I was worried they would be sold out, but lucky me. They are very tender and full of flavor. The gravy isn’t heavy and the Sweet Plantains were delicious. I also had Arroz con Habichuelas as a side dish

The food was ok! A minor wait for my order (15-20 minutes). The seating area/lobby is small but cozy, and parking was available next door behind a different establishment but it works. The owner and staff are warm and welcoming.
I ordered the pica pollo, small bbq tip, & jerk tips. The could use a touch of seasoning, and the slaw missed the mark, but everything else was on point. I’ll go back to try some other dishes that I haven’t tried. ❤️
The parking situation and being out of sides I wanted took away from the 5⭐️, but all that means is the sides must be damm good! Lol

The answer is yes. Eat at Caribbean Roots. We had the Plantain Chips with Jotha Sauce (aka Crack Sauce), Beef Rib with Macaroni and Cheese and Cabbage, and the Ox Tails with Yellow Rice and Pigeon Peas and Plantains.
Everything was a treat to my soul. The food was fresh, flavorful, and served fast with friendly service. The restaurant was clean.

Honestly, I got Door Dash, so I can’t speak to the service & atmosphere , but with how this food is, both have to be just as amazing! I got the empanadas special – jerk chicken & cheese came with rice and beans

Make sure you STOP here.. The outside is inviting with warm colors and outside sitting. A nice Hello and Welcome as soon as you walk inside. There is a menu board with daily items and specials on it. They are very helpful with explaining food items. After ordering, they place your food in to go containers. There is plenty of seating inside the restaurant. The 1/2 jerk chicken was moist and deliciously prepared. The rice and macaroni n cheese was very tasteful and good. There are severely sauces to choose from. They offer meal bowls with a side item. We got the jerk chicken that was hot and delicious. The plantains are very good.. No matter what meal you choose, you’ll not be disappointed .. Thank You for lunch …

Very delicious! I ordered a bowl with choice of jerk chicken, white rice with beans, and sweet fried plantain. For beverage I have a tropical juice. Good service, amazing people. Very happy that we stopped by and try the food.

Ohhh I wish I live close to this restaurant! They have great service with great food. We ordered Dominican chicken with green plantains, ox tail, fried chicken and ram cake. They were all delicious!
