In town for work. Wanted to try something that the locals might eat. Great drive up service. Cute historic feel. Time to update the menu. Wings were frozen and heavily breaded. All for them to be cooked longer. Onion rings were the best thing that I ordered.

The Savannah Black Nurses held their annual education luncheon in the banquet hall. Everything was lovely.

My work team and I went for a quick lunch since it was a couple miles away, but it turned into a 2 hour journey away from work. And the restaurant really wasn’t full either. We waited about 45 minutes from placing our order to food to the table. And even when the food came out, it didn’t all come out at once but over the next 10 minutes. Some of us were just about finished with our plate by the time the last person’s food arrived. The tossed salads were server on a plate the size of our entrees and was honestly too much to finish. Don’t believe anyone finished their salad. A majority of the food was good, but the service could improve greatly!

I needed something quick today for lunch. I was at the drive in at 11:30am when they opened and I was the first order taken outside. I ordered a cheeseburger & fries thinking that would be the fastest thing to get. 4 cars proceeded to come in, order, get their food & leave and I’m still waiting. Finally, at 11:58am, I called the restaurant & asked for a manager. A man comes on the phone and tells me it’s his fault for not giving the server my food. Finally, after 30minutes of waiting, my food comes out. In this instance I feel like the manager should have brought out my food and my meal should have been free. I eat here frequently because it’s only about a mile from my job, but I think it may be quite a while before i return.

A must visit if in the Savannah area and searching for some home style cooking! Beef Chili (superb), Baked chicken (excellent), baked potato (perfect ), macaroni salad (only thing I wasn’t wild about), unsweetened tea and Key Lime pie! If you’ve been to Uncle Bill’s Pancake and Dinner in the St Louis area, this reminds me a lot of them.

Terrible food. Went there twice and spent well over $70 each time and both times the food was terrible. No seasoning on the food, flounder was too overcooked, slab of ribs was crunchy(overcooked also), the fries didn’t even have seasoning on it. I recommend this is not an option if you are looking for a good meal. Service is slack but they still expect a tip… If I had 6 thumbs I’d point them all down on this restaurant.

Just wow! I stopped in at the suggestion of the front desk person at Holiday inn. I wasn’t expecting much based on the looks of the businesses nearby, but took a chance. I’m so glad I did! Jahniaya was attentive without being disruptive and made suggestions when I hesitated because of my dietary constraints. The manager, James Mcgill (sp) grabbed my food from the window and, halfway to me, he noticed it had toast when I had asked for no toast. Rather than just bring it anyway or just toss the toast (which would have been fine w me) , he took the time to take it back and then came to ask if I wanted my hamburger steak re-made! Choosing to sit at the counter I witnessed excellent customer service time and time again with other customers coming and going. If I have occasion to be in this area again I will seek out this restaurant! Thanks y’all!
Ps. Get the green beans!

Good food. Chicken was crispy and amazing. Sweet potato fries tasted slightly undercooked in the middle yet soggy. Mac and cheese and sides are great. They do something special with the toast to keep the condensation from building up in the take out. The chicken strips were the tastiest way I’ve tried. Recommend.

I was very disappointed about this visit today. I have not visited a Carey Hilliards in 18 years. Walked into the restaurant, and apparently, a group of individuals who worked there was having some kind of lunch or break at the bar. No greeting. The hostess finally came around and seated us. Order wings, which was the only item there we enjoyed. The fish batter had no seasoning and had fried tilapia with bland batter. The flounder my mom had was just as bland. No seasoning on the fries, the macaroni cheese, string beans. The potatoes salad was entirely too sweet. I think the biggest disappointment was the hushpuppies, one of our favorite things to eat. Smh.
The waitress lacks attentiveness, no kind of personality, just as bland as the food there. I complained about the taste of the hushpuppies, and she looked at me like a deer in headlights. I then asked for the manager, who was a woman, and she too lacked personality. She took off one of the hushpuppies I paid for. I only wanted to replace my side with another one. She told me they could only offer me a toast to replace it. This experience was a waste of time for me. First and last time. The manager never told me her name. The waitress never told me her name, I got her name off the receipt (Shania). This was 4:00-4:48pm. Whoever was the manager on duty during this time was who I spoke with. Paid $67.36 and was still hungry. Went to another restaurant, paid less, and got better tasting food and customer service. If I could give this place a half star, I would. To anyone trying to eat here, go to another location.
Pictured below is the unseasoned food that I paid for and left on the table. Looks pretty but tastes bland.
