First of all the positives, I love the decor and the atmosphere of the place, I’m in love with the diner theme. However, the pasta itself has more to be desired, the sauce and ingredients are fresh and delicious but the pasta itself has a very undercooked and doughy texture and I’m not sure if fresh pasta should taste like that. I was expecting more from the opening but it somewhat fell flat for me.

We had seen some online reviews and wanted to check it out. We were not disappointed . We tried the focaccia sandwiches and they look so tasty that we jumped on them before taking any pictures (sorry, we’ll do better next time!). The portions are generous so come with your appetite. Looking forward to trying the pasta dishes!

The staff, Sarah at the SDSU location in particular, is wonderful. The atmosphere is great, and the food rocks! I always get the paperdelle with bolognese and it’s to die for. 10/10, 5 stars, I LOVE THIS PLACE.

Great place, friendly staff. Service is quick. Only complaint is that the pasta sauces can be extremely oily at times, which ruins the whole dish. If they can fix that, this place can definitely get 5 stars.

this place is amazing!! as soon as i walked in sofia had a big smile on her face and greeted me. she was very nice she even payed for my meal! i forgot my wallet in my car and she offered to use her school card to pay. she was the sweetest! thank you sofia 🙂

I’m not sure if it was because of the reviews or just that I had a different chef the past few times I went, but the pasta sauces have gotten noticeably better. Whereas before, the pink sauce was bland and lifeless, it is now very flavorful! I can even see the herbs and spices in the sauce now, which were not there before. This is the quality I was hoping for the first time I ate here’
It’s still not the most authentic Italian food, but it’s certainly enjoyable. I’m not crazy about how much this place uses AI art. If you’re looking for a casual pasta place to eat at, Carbonaro’s is a solid choice.
