On July 15th, 2009, Caravaggio, opened its doors to New York City for the first time. Located at 23 E. 74th Street, Giuseppe Brunos’ latest cutting-edge concept carries on the long-lived family tradition of serving great food to our devoted patrons and to the greater New York area.
Giuseppe’s attention to detail, in both food and service, will continue to be his main goal. He believes in nourishing body and soul, which is the wisdom of his Salerno ancestors from Southern Italy. Giuseppe Bruno and his staff will strive to continue this heartfelt tradition.
Sophisticated Italian cuisine is served in an elegant modern setting perfect for people-watching.

It was absolute perfection. For a brief evening, it truly felt like being transported to Italy, with every detail capturing that effortless elegance. Each dish on the menu was cooked and presented flawlessly, bursting with fresh, authentic flavors that made every bite memorable. The venue itself is beautiful, radiating warmth and genuine care in every corner, with a timeless charm that instantly puts you at ease. The service was simply outstanding—attentive, gracious, and sincere. I couldn’t have wished for a better dinner. It was a classic, wonderful experience that left me already dreaming of the next visit.

What an EXCEPTIONAL DINING EXPERIENCE! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Gerardo who welcomed us and like you just stepped into a time forgotten with impecable service, from beginning to the end. The service was consistently on par with any 5 Star Restaurant, our server was Ervis and the food was AMAZING! I would most definitely recommend this hidden jewel to anyone who is in search of a spectacular dining experience. Nelson

This was the best overall dining experience I have ever had. From seating to exit the front of house staff all seemed invested in giving us a great experience. The waitstaff was charming, friendly, and treated us as family. Our drinks never got close to empty and the food (the important part) was all delicious. We only do meals in this price range once or twice a year but I would jump at the opportunity to return to Caravaggio anytime.

There is just so much more care in everything they do at this restaurant….We felt extremely special being guests at this restaurant. Well, we felt like what we are – part of the neighbourhood community. Everyone was so attentive. Tony in particular is an icon! We were there for a late lunch. I had the watermelon mojito and it was made with fresh watermelon. The bartender checked in personally whether I liked it or not. It’s so rare for such great service to occur! My cocktail had a perfect level of alcohol, freshness and sweetness. The food was interesting but not in a way that it is fussy. It just felt healthy and made with an absolute sense of care that you felt in every bite. The individual tastes of the varied ingredients were exquisite. You could tell that the owner personally developed the bread recipe. The air holes and bounciness of the bread were to be admired! The octopus and seared calamari left me waking up this morning with a wish to go back for dinner right this evening. Oh, I should mention that we also had a delicious gluten free clam pasta and a great mixed salad. It’s the combination of exquisite homemade food made with love and sprinkled with care that should make you want to go there.

Very nice restaurant with wonderful, atmosphere, food and service. Very expensive, no red wines by the glass under $30. Huge bread service. Pastas were amazing, fettuccines, one with squid ink and three types of fish the other veal ragu both exquisite. Caprese salad excellent.

Sometimes a restaurant is truly deserving of the many 5-star reviews. Caravaggio is one of those. From start to finish, the attention to detail, the pace and progression of the meal, and the taste and presentation of each dish were all impeccable. The grilled octopus and the stuffed zucchini blossoms (one of the evening’s specials) were standouts. The capellini was fresh and lush with shrimp, crabmeat, vegetables and a light broth. Cap the meal with the chocolate soufflé or the Caravaggio Rocher.

Terrible experience.
The food was awful. We were overcharged, and the drinks were brought only when we were already leaving.
The shrimp tasted like cheap frozen shrimp, definitely not fresh.
Service was slow and careless, no apologies, no explanation.
Prices are absolutely insane — $217 for one salad and two pastas.
Very disappointing experience. Overpriced, low quality, and not worth it at all. Never coming back.
