I was really impressed with this restaurant. Exquisite food and attentive/friendly service received by our waiter Israel. I ordered the arugula salad and the New York steak. One of the best arugula salad I’ve ever eaten in my life! My steak was grilled to perfection, according to my tastes! The steak was a bit pricey but worth every penny ! Strongly recommend this restaurant if you live in Monterrey or visiting or even for a business networking dinner! Thank you for the awesome food !

Service was very efficient. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good ambience, not too loud. Amazing varied menu, everything seemed tasty however portions are most likely to share so it is better to go with someone. I enjoyed the tacos tiesos, good filling and sauces, the lechon empanada was interesting, good sauce as well. Delicious chilaca taco. The guava pie was giant and very tasty. Prices vary, some dishes are a bit pricey but others are cost benefit. A must in Monterrey.

My lunch experience here was perfect. Service was excellent and all the meals we ordered were delicious. If you love margaritas, you will enjoy the refreshing Tijuana Margarita. And if mezcal is your preference, the Jamaico cocktail is a good choice. We enjoyed sitting in the air-conditioned glass enclosed patio area which allowed a panoramic view of the outdoors.

I am no fan of overly and unjustified expensive food, I greatly think it is over promised and under delivered. But boy oh boy I have never eaten in a place like this so delicious before.

1. It is homey and fancy at the same time, things that don’t usually go together. But I can’t believe how enjoyable it was to be there for a third time. The place is so interesting, I rarely wasn’t looking around.

2. The food is just impeccable and original. Even though it is hard enough to achieve a flavorful dish, to achieve it in such and original and creative way, just left me flabbergasted.

3. The service is just “extra”. But not in a bad way, in an incredibly enjoyable way. The waitress got out of her way to explain to my friend how the fish was brought fresh, and was answering questions for almost five minutes, and she did it with smile. Also, the waitress knew exactly what she was selling. She was more of a connoisseur than a waitress! She new words I had to look up in order to understand the description of the flavor of the sauce of a dish, and I am a very literate person in “food” language.

4. The valet parking was perfect, almost no delay, thanks to the proximity of the parking place.

Disclaimer, the pictures were taken the first time I went. The second and third I didn’t had my phone with me. And didn’t have the opportunity to take a picture of the menu. But believe me, it is expensive, be prepared.

The place is awesome to extremely welldone cocktails and good authentic Mexican food! The service at the bar is exceptional, a big shout out to El Pollo, Sixto and their crew, you guys made my night yesterday! (Thanks for the drinks and the stories. It totally changed my perception about Mezcal and how to drink it properly!)
I’ll come back whenever I visit Monterrey again for sure!

Okay, forget about my previous posts: Cara de vaca has been my ABSOLUTE favorite place in Monterrey. Hands down, no discussion. Food was simply perfect: we had the queso fundido with chistorra and cherry tomatoes. It is served like a cheese taco made with its own crust. It was wonderful. We also had the much-praised arugula salad, with brussels sprouts. It was HUGE and delicious and with a wonderful citric dressing. I could eat that salad every day and would not get enough.
As we were somewhat full, we skipped to dessert, where we had the guava pie, served with some sort of buñuelos on the side. The combination made total sense once tried altogether (I would’ve enjoyed a bit more guava, though).
Wine list is filled with Mexican options —which made me happy and proud—, and we of course went for the Vena Cava’s sauvignon blanc. I also saw that they do some “Cider Saturdays”, which sound interesting (and I saw you can try Vena Cava’s Amber wine –one of Mexico’s top organic wines, if that’s your thing).
Service was excellent, attentive and even fun.
My only complaint is regarding the reservations. We had booked a table beforehand and still had to wait for half an hour to get our seats. There were lots of people waiting, which makes me guess the waiting is a constant issue. Come prepared, but it’ll be worth the wait.
