Gaby was attentive without being intrusive—she anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. Her menu recommendations were spot-on, and you could tell she truly cared that we enjoyed every part of our meal. She checked in at just the right times, made sure our drinks were always full, and handled everything with professionalism and charm.
It’s rare to find someone who combines efficiency, kindness, and such a positive attitude all at once. Gaby made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table, and because of her, we’ll definitely be returning to Capuli soon.
The food here is very good, and that was no exception on a recent Saturday visit with a friend. I order the artichoke-jalapeno dip appetizer every time (it’s that good). For those arriving with a large appetite: portion sizes are ample, but no more than that. The place is cozy and gets very noisy so be prepared to speak in raised tones.
So what went wrong?
1. We arrived at what would be considered peak dinner time and were told they were already out of 3 entrees. This shrunk an already small menu for us. These were standard entrees, not specials that were off-menu.
2. Our waitress lacked focus throughout and really ruined the experience. She consistently forgot to return to our table for things; ex. to replace a utensil she dropped, to bring out dessert menus when we had asked (well after most patrons had left and there was limited action in the place to distract her) and generally disappearing at the end of the evening. I’m understanding of staff performing difficult jobs in busy environments. Even then, I’ll say without intention of insult that this isn’t the right job for her.
3. Here’s where it got… weird? My friend finished half the entree and asked to take the rest home. 15 minutes later, after paying the bill and checking in twice with the waitress, the leftovers still weren’t brought out yet. Waitress finally brings it out, and we leave. At some point my friend commented that the leftovers were oddly warm. open the container to discover it was a newly prepared, ultra-small portion of the same dish that was ordered…. as in, they must have accidentally thrown out or dropped the original leftovers and then scrambled to make more to put in the take-home container. Except there was less in the container than what was taken from the table, and it lacked some of the ingredients as well: the mushrooms and shrimp were conspicuously missing (shrimp were a $9 add-on to the dish and only half of them had been eaten). So, this was a poor attempt at a coverup.
Chef Armando and wife need to do better than this. Businesses need to be transparent and honest with customers. Putting aside the poor service we received, someone needed to come to our table and explain that the leftovers were accidentally discarded but they are prepping a FULL REPLACEMENT meal. Not a 1/4 portion minus the shrimp we paid extra for. I honestly feel like they stole from us.
Capuli has 2 menus. One for lunch and one for dinner. Both offer a vibrant variety of Mediterranean classics, as well as an assortment of amazing, healthy, fresh flavorful dishes not commonly found in our community.
Chef-owner Armando and his wife Andrea proud themselves on freshness and meticulous detail with their food while maintaining a fun, family friendly atmosphere. The food is presented like a work of art in state-of-art. The plating and flavors will make your 5 senses explode with excitement.
It is hard to pinpoint my absolute favorite dishes because they were all so delicious. Definitely try the roasted chicken with sage and champagne butter over polenta cake. If meat is more your style, then you must have the delicious slow cooked pot roast over veggies and mashed potatoes. There is also excellent appetizers and other entrée options such as Salmon Roulade, NY Strip, Eggplant Polenta, and many others. (See pics to help fuel your appetite)
Capuli is a fresh and unique “must-have” bright spot in the community. They are currently open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery via Grubhub and Uber eats. This foodie wishes Andrea and Chef Armando the best of luck and continued success. Definitely check this place out! You will not regret it! Also be sure to check out their daily specials. Last night I had a sausage tagliatelle that was divine!
I’d recommend Capuli, no doubt.
