We’ve eaten here twice now, and both experiences have been exceptional. Our first visit was on St. Patrick’s Day, and the corned beef and cabbage they served was hands down one of the best we’ve ever had — perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.
On our most recent visit, we tried the boneless wings, and they were outstanding. The meat quality was top-notch — juicy, tender, and not overly breaded or overcooked. There were several flavor options to choose from, but the candied jalapeño stood out: it struck a great balance between sweet and spicy without being overwhelming.
The sesame coleslaw was also a pleasant surprise — flavorful and refreshing — though we do wish the portion had been a bit more generous, as the serving was quite small for a side dish.
Highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys creative, well-prepared food!

I have never been to a more positive place. The food is good. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is amazing. A manager that comes by your table and checks on how things are? That’s unheard of anymore. I am loving Captains and Grain Valley.

I only said atmosphere was a 3. Because its like everywhere. But the President or manager stood out. The regulars gave their honest opinion of what I should eat. I tried a Burnt end Mac and Cheese and I swear it was on point. For any meal. Or a cold winter day. I was impressed. Never thought to mix somehing I cook daily and be so right… warmed my stomach I can now have drinks galore..

We had Captain’s for lunch today. Their Thursday special is boneless wings. They were very meaty and very good. I was impressed. The waitress told us about their specials every day of the week. From the sounds of it you can’t go wrong on any week day; except Friday. No specials that day. The music was not so loud this time. I also made sure we didn’t sit under a speaker. Still wish they had booths. We’re planning on going again on a Wednesday for their hamburger special. See you then. Original post: Food is very good. Prices seem a little on the high side. Cement floors. Atmosphere is not very cozy. Nice large bar area with stools. No booth sitting anywhere in the restaurant. Music (house sound) was very loud. Several TVs on the walls. Outside seating available. Waitress was very friendly. We would go back.

Wanted to try a local place. The food was good. The service was subpar, extremely slow and it was not busy. The pretzels were a good appetizer choice. The tenderloin had a lot of flavor, my son said the Cuban was quite good as well. The baby ate most of her pizza, so it had to be good. The onion rings were amazing. My husband said the burger was just a burger. Clean bathrooms. Plenty of parking. I wish we had experienced better service. It is pricy for sandwiches.

Haven’t been here in over a year. Since Halloween 2025 we have been here 3-4 times and this place has made a 360. From start to finish somebody has prioritized customer service and we love it here, again!

My kids had cheeseburgers and they were tough and burnt. My meal was forgotten. Had to ask again what I requested. One person got his appetizer after his meal and he was finished. I asked for a kids water. server came back and began bussing tables and completely forgot about water. One of the servers also had ring worm. should have been covered up. not a good experience at all
