Taking over from the old bistro, captain t’s is the new diner in town. Eggs, bacon, breakfast sandwiches, and pancakes. They even had some good local syrup. Not bad, price was good, will try lunch next time.
Space wise, it’s a diner, 6 tables inside and a few outside for the ice cream patio.
Update: Went for lunch. Clam strips, fritters, chowder, and sandwich. Filling, crispy, and decent amount of clam. It’s not the Sole but it’s nice to have options in Barre again.

Spent $70 on seafood which I was told was their “specialty” however, I first waited an entire hour for my takeout order. second, everyone around me was having their own issues with their orders. When I finally got my food and got back home, I was shocked to find my onion rings in the state that they were in, a ball (see photo). My captain t’s platter looked exactly like the clam plate, and it was hard to figure out what was what. the food was just ok. I tried to give this place a chance, maybe they were having an off night. hopefully things get figured out

Really great Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast! Had brunch outside on Saturday morning. Waitress was very friendly and kind to our dog.

We stopped in last week for a quick bite to eat, cute place, good food and great service. We found a new stop while traveling around our area by Templeton. I only wish I could remember to take pictures of the food to post, usually so hungry I forget. It was good and so was the coffee.. enjoy..

We rolled up as they were about to close early. So glad they opened up. A great burger for me and custom omelette for my spouse. Everything was fresh. Really good. Great little spot not far from our friend’s place! Yay!

We enjoyed our food and dining experience. My personal favorite part was the little boy there who was obsessed with bacon. He kept walking up to our table and just chatting with us while snacking on his bacon. He said we were bacon boys so now I’m a bacon boy for life!!

Captain T’s has such good breakfast, as well as lunch and dinner! Bacon and sausage egg and cheese with a side of bacon! SOO good!

I ordered lunch for me and my coworkers. First of all, all the orders were messed up one way or another. Clearly their oil has NOT been changed. The chicken fingers were hard as a rock, dry and discolored (from the oil I’m sure) the fries were drowning in oil, soggy and did not taste good at all, again probably the old, burnt, overused oil. This was not my first time trying this place, the other times it was just as messed up. I WILL NOT be going back and “trying” it again and neither will my coworkers. They are totally missing out on what could have been a big daily lunch order for a big establishment. I do not recommend this place at all!!

The setting is nice with an outside patio. They might have been short staffed, but the wait for food after we ordered was horribly long, approaching an hour. They forgot the toast which is included with the omelette and the hash browns included with the kids meal. When they brought the hashbrowns, they were sopping in grease, enough so that we tilted the plate to drain the grease to one side. Not going to return.

So far, I’ve only ordered from their ice cream window, so I cannot give my opinion on any other food or dining experience here. In the past month, I’ve stopped twice for ice cream at the window & had two very different experiences. The first time, I only ordered 1 baby sized ice cream cone for my daughter & the service was great & had no complaints. My daughter loved her Old Fashioned Vanilla & the employee was friendly & fast. Second time, had a slightly larger order, consisting of a milkshake & 2 ice creams. The service was ridiculously slow & the woman behind me in line even gave up & left, because of how long it was taking for them to help me. I was the only customer ahead of her also. The young lady who took my order honestly took probably about 10 mins at least to make it. I could understand if it was a real big order, but I only had 3 pretty simple things, the milkshake, 1 baby ice cream cone, 1 small ice cream cone. They didn’t seem understaffed, as I could hear & see others behind the counter. I did like the shake, it was a peppermint mocha & this time my daughter tried cotton candy (Smurf) & my partner ordered a flavor I can’t remember at the moment. They do have a lovely variety & decent prices. Although limited choice of frozen yogurt & nonfat options. Employees are usually friendly too. I just hope next time it’s not so slow! I was actually in a hurry as well that day & didn’t expect to have such a long wait for a few easy to make items. I do plan on returning. Easy to find location, lots of parking. Handicapped accessible. Picnic tables outdoors. **Update**: I’ve been back a few times, both times service was again very slow! It took a very long time to get our ice cream. I was also looked at as if I had two heads when I asked an employee to clean an outdoor table, after having stuck my hand in someone else’s mess of melted ice cream that was left behind, when we sat down to eat our frozen treats…(I hadn’t noticed it at first!) We were also disappointed in the skimpy amount of hot fudge we were given in a large hot fudge sundae that was split between my partner & I. The flavor also wasn’t the best, because we ordered something that was supposed to have both peanut butter & chocolate I believe, and you could barely taste the peanut butter flavor, it was more like plain chocolate. I think they assume if you have time for ice cream, you have time to wait…maybe they could use more staff for starters, or just a little more energy/motivation? I understand that if you’re understaffed, you can’t do much about it, but it shouldn’t take 10+ mins to get an ice cream cone or two!
