We came into this hopeful, but unfortunately it just missed the mark. For the prices, the portions were decent, but there wasn’t a lick of seasoning anywhere on the plate. Just bland and disappointing. The server was nice and cheerful, but no amount of customer service can fix the food.

Very rude staff. Took very very long. Church members from First Presbyterian Church of Kernersville NC will no longer ever frequent or pay money in any way to this establishment. We all noticed this discouraging and extremely slow food service. The replacement manager Emmanuel was poorly trained and not worthy of that position. I was told he used to be kitchen staff until very recently. He was very rude and disrespectful. And pretended to be a friend. He refused a patron his to go meal until only after a prolonged argument and then did not replace the trout but offered flounder, a bottom feeder fish that the patron dislikes acutely but accepted just to get away from him and his unhinged rant and behavior. He should be fired and sent home but after hearing Church elders advise me, he definitely needs to be restrained and demoted. We are never returning. We are now telling everyone with one ear that they should avoid this establishment like the plague. It used to be a good quality restaurant whose flair and ambience was notable. Now it clearly is not. You need to retrain the entire staff beginning with Emmanuel and Hailey at the front door. First impressions are lasting ones, the initial trip/visit will be the last one. Guaranteed. So much for extending the right hand of friendship and brotherhood. Do NOT go to this place and spend your hard earned money in Kernersville. Pick another place any place. McDonald’s treats the customer better. Go to Clark’s BBQ or Prissy Polly’s….you will get special treatment. Forget fish

Ive been eating here my whole life. It’s one of those places that have a little bit of everything and even the kids are happy. Even when the place is packed, you can get seated with a large group fairly quickly. But I decided to try something different than the usual orders. The New Orleans Tilapia is so good. It’s rich, it’s flavorful. All the ingredients compliment each other. Highly recommend. You also cannot go wrong with popcorn chicken or shrimp.

The food was horrible. I even had some paper fried with my fish. The food wasn’t seasoned. There wasn’t even a real apology just owe I’ll give you another piece of fish. They say with a large 3 combination you only get 3 pieces of fish. I don’t understand that when with a large 2 combination you get 4 pieces of fish. The server we had was great which was the only good thing that came out of this visit. The lack of concern from management about the paper in the food was very concerning.

My husband and I are there last night. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. They brought the food to the table for us to share. No plates we had to put the calamari on napkins on the table. The calamari was breaded the calamari was so tough I could not chew it. Then the main course was served fish and chips, no ketchup and no tartar sauce. We had to wait for our waitress to walk by and I had to call her to get her attention, the amount food was very small the fish was cut into 6 small pieces. The French fries was soggy. Not worth the high price. We will never go back again

We went to captain toms on a whim because I wanted some fried shrimp. We had Matthew as our server and he was great. He spoke to us about what we wanted, made suggestions on what he liked, moved with a purpose and was just a pleasure to be around. We ordered Cajun salmon bites and onion rings for appetizers. The Cajun salmon bites came with a Cajun tar tar which was really good. The homemade onion rings were delicious as well. My husband ordered a burger which had a great flavor and texture. I got flounder and popcorn shrimp with slaw and fries. I also got a side salad with ranch. The homemade ranch was a nice surprise. Everything was hot and fresh. My craving for shrimp was overwith. We had our son with us and got him white fish and fries. I got the red velvet cake to go and that was the only disappointment of the meal. The cake part was so dry and crunchy it just fell to powder in your mouth. It definitely was off. The frosting had no cream cheese flavor or any kind of flavor whatsoever besides super sweet just overly sweet, creamy and bland. It even left a weird after taste. However other than the cake everything was excellent. Everyone was friendly, the restaurant was clean and we felt welcome. We will definitely be back with relatives and friends but we definitely won’t be getting any desserts.

My husband and I usually eat here for the She Crab soup or Clam Chowder which are bar none and i would give those items a 5 star.. However, the last time i ate here which was a couple of weeks ago I ordered the flounder which I was craving. I was very disappointed. It was very thin and had very little meat. I frequent a few other seafood restaurants in the triad area that the flounder is very meaty and you feel like youve had some flounder and dont have to pick at it to get the meat. That’s my reason for the 3 star ratingfor the food. I will still be coming here for other items on the menu but not the flounder.

This was my first and only experience here at Captain Tom’s. I got the salmon alfredo, which was delicious. Came with bread and a delicious salad. I went during the Sunday lunch rush, so it took a while. It was well worth the wait. The food was DELICIOUS and fairly priced. The decor in this restaurant is very sea shanty/shack themed and is neat to look at. Excellent service. I will come here again!

I suggest you do too.

This review is based on 2 visits. We loved this restaurant, staff, and the food on our first visit so we had to come back and it didn’t disappoint at all. The food is was great and fresh and it didn’t tasted like it was made in old oil.
We have noticed a big difference in their food in compare to similar places.
I highly recommend this place if you want quality food and great customer service.

This place is absolutely the BEST SEAFOOD restaurant . The service, the food proportions can’t be beat. Excellent taste and they still try to be fair in the quantity of food on each plate. Very clean, would like more hostess like the lady that was a certified, classy adult . Only seen her maybe twice, but my wife and myself found it refreshing to have a non- teenager , mature adult to greet us as soon as we walk in.( Dark hair, very polished and PERSONALITY. She put forth the effort to make us feel WELCOME.
