Captain Scoops is an ice cream shop located in Surfside Plaza in Nags Head! We are on the Beach Road Side, look for the Harley Davidson, we are at the end of that building. We offer a wide variety of delicious treats, including 28+ flavors of hand-scooped ice cream, plus at least 5 non-dairy options so everyone can enjoy. We also have creamy soft serve, which we can even swirl together for a bit of extra fun. And if you’re looking for something extra special, be sure to try one of our standard or specialty milkshakes, and the new Kraken. Plenty of roomy parking, indoor and outdoor seating, and wait in line in the air conditioner. Free frozen treats for dogs, and dogs welcome on our deck. We hope to see you aboard soon!.

My husband and I came here for ice cream and were not disappointed. We had originally tried to go to a different shop but the lines were out the door. To our surprise, we were the only ones at this place! It is a hidden gem. The owners were SO nice and friendly. Ice cream portions are generous! Lots of fun flavors to choose from and they even have soft serve! I am picky about my ice cream so I don’t give out praise lightly! Love that they have free syrups and sprinkles too. Super cute outdoor seating as well. I highly highly recommend this place!

They ARE OPEN ON SUNDAY. Apple Maps was incorrect and we sent a correction report in to fix their hours. Staff was super friendly polite and professional. Fast service. Ice cream and milkshake was delicious. Also had a dairy free (oat milk based) ice cream which was also good. Definitely would go back! Indoor and outdoor seating.

We got there at 9pm and the door was locked. The owner popped over and unlocked the door and said he needed a minute. His wife was having a dizzy spell. I said “No problem take you time” his wife made out to the truck and he was very appreciative of us being patient and waiting. He was a super friendly dude and we got chatting about bears, the alligator river how there’s wolves and bears out there. My boys and I really enjoyed the ice cream thanks for the good conversation and good service!! I hope the misses feels better.
