New to the area, and of course we had to try out Captain Ron’s. The cheese steaks were phenomenal! In house made chips were great too. Lots of screens to watch all the games. We’ll definitely be back for more!

Captain Ron’s in Warwick, MD seems to be off to a strong start under new management, with its official grand opening on August 22, 2025. Locals might remember it as the old “Washington House,” but it’s now been reimagined as a Chesapeake watermen-inspired bar—and it really leans into that coastal Maryland vibe.
I tried the crab fries topped with blue crab meat—absolutely delicious. I also sampled the BBQ pulled pork sandwich with raspberry BBQ sauce, which was solid. But the standout for me was the pulled pork with broccoli on a seeded long roll—it had some kind of oil or seasoning that made the flavor pop. If I wasn’t already full, I would’ve gone for the double-smashed burger, which looked great. They do not have a working website up yet or the menu on their Google listing, but I’m sure that will be coming soon.
There was live acoustic music the night I went, and I heard they plan to keep bringing in live acts, which adds a nice touch to the atmosphere. On opening night, Cecil County officials even showed up to support the new owner, who’s working alongside a local family that’s still involved in running the place.
Even before the official opening, they’d been in soft-open mode for about a month, and it sounds like locals have been checking it out and coming back for more. Based on what I saw and tasted, I get why.
Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area—especially if you’re into laid-back spots with good food and local roots. Locals will keep coming back regardless. As for locals, ownership might want to get a Baltimore Ravens flag on the wall in there because I hear it’s definitely Ravens territory. As for me, I loved the fact that the only flag flying beside ole glory, was the Philadelphia Eagles flag GO BIRDS!!

If you’re in the area stop in—it’s a great time. Good food, simple menu, better bartenders, great atmosphere and good people. Pool tables, cold beer and tallow fries. Need I say more? Local spot for sure but you’ll feel welcome. Can’t say enough good things about the bartenders, Sara and Chloe!

This place is great! I was there for opening weekend, July 4th. They did such a great job with the renovation. The cheesesteak was delicious! Nothing like it in that area. I’d put it up against some of Philly’s best. Music was great, beer was cold. And……they added TWO Diamond pool tables with that new style perimeter lighting. Excellent. It’s definitely the best bar around. I can’t wait for next weekend.
