We were on the road and just got settled in out hotel in Daytona Beach. Captain Pizza and Grill was close and open, so we ordered a spinach and mushroom pizza, and a Greek salad to go. First of all, the salad was lovely, so forget about that. I’m a bit of a pizza guy, so I can be a wee bit critical at times. This pizza had Zero sauce!! I was so confused. Not light sauce, no sauce at all. Dough, cheese(too much actually) and toppings was all we received! I did not order a white pizza! It was late. Did they run out of sauce and thought we wouldn’t notice? We ate our silly pizza experiment and dreamt of rivers of red sauce!

The medium calzone served 3! It’s a generous portion. I’m not a fan of canned mushrooms, so I would probably not pay extra for those next time and I like a balance of ricotta and mozzarella, but otherwise it was good. My husband had a burger and said it was ok.
The server was adequate, but didn’t seem to be really engaged or like she wanted to be there.
We were one of two tables occupied (we were here during the off season).
UPDATE: Captain’s in response to your response “how could you improve?” Don’t use canned mushrooms, balance your ricotta and mozzarella, and maybe have your front of the house staff greet and engage customers like that want to be there. Not in a conversation in their ear pods (the entire time we were there) and come across as if we were annoying to take care of.

We ordered two pizzas and lasagna. My husband and son enjoyed their pizzas, stating that they were very cheesy and had great flavor. I ordered the lasagna and it was gooey, cheesy goodness. The sauce wasn’t too acidic, noodles done perfectly, and the perfect amount of melty cheese. It came with a small salad (pictured) with Italian dressing and garlic knots. Both were good but the lasagna was the star of the meal. Our items were delivered so I’m sure of the overall atmosphere.

It’s been a while since I had a hankering for late night pizza …but I found myself out with friends and SERIOUSLY hungry.
Captain Pizza was open after midnight and had some good reviews, so I gave it a try. Ordered a large sausage and extra cheese pizza to go…and an order of cheese sticks as an app while I waited.
The counter server was really pleasant…and so was the chef in the kitchen. The place was clean but a little run down. It looked like the owners take pride in their establishment.
The cheese sticks were crispy and had a great flavor and cheese pull…
The pizza was hand delivered in the to-go box to my table and was surprisingly good for a simple layer night pie. Flavorful crust, nice sauce and toppings. Very solid late night choice.

Went in 1/27/26 order a calzone, paid $19. Following day went back 1/28/26, (pregnancy craving) paid $21 for same order, same lady.
Total was same at first then she looked at me and “sorry up charge” but the order was the same…. Someone please explain??
Not halal meat, just don’t sell pork here so they say it’s “halal”

Is don’t get the “warm and fuzzies” from the staff but their Pizza is great. The cheese might be the best in town… I’m not sure. It’s next to the “Shady Sunoco” and maybe that’s part of the reason the “ambience is a challenge“ but I do like it A LOT. Based on the fruit of line I can’t say anything else, but definitely go there but if you expect to fall in love with the staff here at the wrong place lol.
