We did carry out and ordered shrimp and scallops platter with fries and greens, shrimp scallops and catfish platter with fries and extra hush puppies, and catfish and shrimp platter with fries and hush puppies. I started the fish and it didn’t taste like catfish. Thinking it was me, I asked my husband to come over, and without trying it, he said you’re going to ask me to taste the fish, it tastes just like mine. I was like okay. So it’s not catfish. Nope. I called and spoke to the young lady who took the order. She swore it was catfish because they cut it down the middle, and she checked, and they sold a lot today and no one else called to say otherwise. I can’t attest to why they didn’t, but fried at home, ordered from bus boys and poets, milk and honey, granny or my mama or auntie’s kitchen, fried catfish, baked catfish, blackened catfish always tastes the same with variation on seasoning. Texture and fish taste is the same. Caught fresh when grandad catches it. Cooked and served at different church gatherings for Easter or whatever, fried catfish tastes the same. This. Was. Not. Catfish. It didn’t even have the signature ripple of catfish.
I appreciate that the young lady offered to let me swap it for something else if I wanted to bring it back. It’s a great solution to offer. I said no though because my mouth was tuned up for catfish, so nothing would have substituted; plus, it was already an ordeal getting there since our entire community hasn’t been cleared of snow. I would have been livid if the retry was worse.
But taste wise, the fries were good because I like the boardwalk fries feel. Fried foods themselves didn’t gave much taste in terms of seasoning, so sauces are absolutely necessary.
I won’t say I won’t go back, but I also won’t say I will. Been in Clinton 8 years, and this is only the second time I’ve eaten there. I’m not missing much.

Nice little fish house, not allot of seating. Not anything fancy for sure, carryout may be a better option.
Tried the whitey fish, a little fishy. Fries and slaw very good and fried shrimp were awesome!
Good stop for lunch.

The decor is pretty cartoony – not a place you’d go to for the atmosphere. However, the lunch specials were a good bargain, I thought. (See picture for trout lunch special for 13.87$ including tax). I would not likely go here other than for the lunch special. The quality of the food (if looking for seafood for dinner) is better at Horace and Dickies nearby, in my personal opinion. Cap Pete’s does have great sauces and the food was fresh! The slaw was super!

First visit and I was sold bad shrimp. I took them back and cashier had an attitude. She stated she didn’t see what the issue was. You clearly smell the shrimp and they are sour. I’m a now sick . Would not recommend to anyone ever!
(The comment to my review itself speaks volumes. They appreciate the feedback while downplaying the feedback. Just get better if its a craft for you. Have someone else more professional to respond to reviews for “Business” and not the actual person I had the encounter with)

I ordered the whiting fish platter fried. The food was bland and unseasoned. Fish was fried well however. Platter options were not good in my opinion. Won’t eat here again.

I went here to purchase crabs for the first time in Maryland, on a coworker’s recommendation. The young man Shawn was very helpful showing me the differences in the size crabs they had available and his upbeat personality was nice. Get the Shawn special if you don’t want too much seasoning on your crabs. Also, you have to let them know if you don’t want your crabs steamed. I wanted my crab live but didn’t communicate that so they automatically steamed them and I didn’t know they would without me asking so that was a lesson learned for me. Also, I expected the large crabs to be lager. Overall the crabs were hot and flavorful.

I’ve been going to Captain Pete’s for quite some time now, and let me tell you—it never disappoints. The food here is consistently top-tier, and you really can’t go wrong no matter what you choose. My go-to is usually the whiting or trout sandwich—fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right every single time.
When I’m in the mood to switch it up, I go for a platter—either whiting or trout, sometimes both—and occasionally add shrimp to round it out. The platters come with perfectly crisp, golden press-cut fries and a side of classic coleslaw that balances everything out. It’s a winning combo, every time.
Whether I’m grabbing a quick bite or treating myself to a full meal, Captain Pete’s always delivers on quality, taste, and consistency. Highly recommend!

I always go for the oyster plater with lake trout.
I have had their Blue Crabs, but I’m not a traditional MD’er. I prefer crab legs.
Blue crabs seem to be more of a social thing and I understand why.
At the end of the day support Prince George County’s small businesses.
Also, the owners are very friendly and welcoming. So I will continue to support.

Crabs are typically good. I brought large males this week —it was light and watery… definitely a waste of money. If you ask the staff if the crabs are heavy they tell you the same thing each time “no complaints “… prices reasonable.

The sides are okay. The collard greens are tough. But the fish is really good.
