This was my first time here, i did not get to see the atmosphere because I did the take out room. The gentleman was friendly and made conversation when the food was taking a little longer than I thought Take-Out should, the food was fresh and delicious, i got chicken but I like how they had baked , broiled and blackened options instead of just fried. Gluten-free friendly, with a salad and baked potato

The waitresses were very nice. Little rough around the edges but very nice/willing to help. The food on the other hand was pretty rough.. the clam chowder was really bad. The fried food was really subpar. The best thing they brought out was the free hush puppy rings. Food is bad, which is unfortunate, I will not be going back

The food was plentiful and delicious. Maybe it’s just Sunday evening, but it was so quiet inside I thought they may be closing early. Service was exceptional too. They prefer cash, so if you can, it’s nice to accommodate that.

This place is the bomb! I formally met the owner, Mr John just this week. He is such a kind and authentic man.
It is 100% evident that he hires only the most capable entrusted staff. Everyone here is kind and genuine.
The food is delicious, the staff is impeccable. And the amateur not on Wednesday is absolutely wonderful.
I would highly suggest that you, go there. Just not on a monday.
You won’t be disappointed

What a great place for a family celebration! All the seafood was fabulous, especially the fried Calamari, but I must say I had the world’s greatest Greek Salad and Pita! Wonderful hidden gem in the Chapel Hill area!

We’ve driven past this restaurant dozens of times and finally decided
to stop at Captain John’s Dockside for dinner recently. Having read numerous reviews I was keeping my expectations moderate. Well, we were pleasantly surprised and the experience exceeded our expectations. The staff is friendly and well-intentioned, but I would not call the service well oiled and it’s somewhat slowish. Now, when I get fried food I’m very particular about how fresh the oil is, and my fried platter was very good. And my better half said her broiled platter was excellent. And this place makes some of the best Hush Puppies I can remember eating. Don’t know about dessert, because the dinner portion was such, that there was no room for dessert. Regarding the ambiance, the decor is pretty 1990’s kitsch but the sound levels in the half full dining room were good, we had no trouble conversing with one another. You don’t
want to be rushed if you come here for dinner and it’s not Cape Fear Seafood Company or Nantucket Grill. But the food was good, and the check was easier on my wallet than most seafood restaurants nowadays.
