We are from out of town and wanted a place in the water. The playlists is good. Nicole was our server and she was “dynamite!” Very attentive, bright, and fast. The food has a few complaints: the potato croquet was cold in the middle (they solved that problem) , chicken parmigiana the pasta was great the chicken tasted microwaved. The dessert the brownie wasn’t hot.

Had excellent Christmas Eve dinner here with family. Food was great; service was attentive but not obtrusive; prices were reasonable; atmosphere was friendly and welcoming but pleasant and not loud. Special Holiday cocktails were tasty! Recommended! (Obviously ; ) We look forward to our next visit!

The location is nice and service is great but the food was awful. I ordered seared scallops and they came out mushy and water logged. They had an interesting flavor but rather than send them back (which I should have done) I ate them and regretted it. I got a bad stomach from them. Would not recommend this place

Captain Jakes is an institution. The food and atmosphere are what makes it truly special. Although the seafood spot down the street may seem to be the “it” spot, it’s simply untrue. Captain Jakes is the place to be, bar none. The food, drinks, and staff are the best. Notably Nicole who is a master of her craft. If you find yourself on the Newburgh waterfront, I highly recommend stopping here and grabbing dinner.

We had a Beautiful view overlooking the Hudson Bay. The fried cod was delicious and The clam chowder is good.
The horseradish sauce they make is excellent.
I asked for blue cheese on my Salad and they pre-tossed it, which is sort of weird so when the salad came out, it Was soggy lettuce and didn’t taste much like dressing. They did not give you salad dressing on the side so you can put it on yourself. I didn’t eat the salad with wilted lettuce.
Guitar player and singer were wonderful.

Visited Captain Jake’s for early dinner. This was our first time time the area and we wanted to try seafood. The staff was very pleasant and nice. We sat out on the heated indoor patio that overlooked the Hudson River ( very nice view) even on a dreary day. We tried the wings as an appetizer and they were so good. Cooked to perfection and piping hot( best way to eat fried chicken). My entrees was a sesame glazed salmon with mashed potatoes and broccoli and it was delicious. Definitely will visit again and must certainly recommend that you visit as well.

Fully packed waterfront seafood restaurant!
It was Saturday night dinner so we made a reservation. We got the best table with the view. It’s a nice place to just hang out so it wasn’t a big deal but the service was very slow. Took 15 minutes to order drinks, another 25 minutes to make order for food and almost an hour to get our food. There were very long periods of time between each visit from the server, so if you ever needed anything, it was a long wait to get it. Thank goodness we asked to serve appetizers and mains at the same time. The first sip of coconut margarita was strong and good but it was a bit too much from the second sip. Oysters were fresh and really good. Buffalo shrimp were overpowered by the sauce. Lobster bisque was okay. Red snapper was very dry and lack of flavor but the potato croquette and broccoli that came with it were good. Lobster roll was pretty blend.
Overrated, overpriced and inefficient!!!

We Love Captain Jake’s. Been coming for years and never had a bad meal. Very friendly, comfortable. On the Water Front in Newburgh. The afternoon lunch has a nice view of the Hudson. Evening lights are very nice. Come and enjoy.

I liked this place alot. It was a little chilly in there, but we were by the waterfont, the doors were open, and people were outside sitting underneath the tent. The staff is friendly, and attentive. The food is amazing. The Sole Francaise was something new for me. Never tried it before, but it was delicious. I recommend trying the Buffalo Shrimp, & Clams Oreganato. I really enjoyed those as appetizers. A nice experience overall!

Ate there with my newborn and my wife, the food was horrible, definitely over priced 2 people came out to 205$. We ordered the the side squash risotto” which might I add tasted like my grandmas feet”. I didn’t send it back I just asked for mashed potatoes” so they send over boxed mashes potatoes with no flavor. All in all, I will never bring my family back there. I ordered other food but I’m not gonna get into that. People now a days don’t know good food most people just settle for whatever. NEVER AGAIN CAPTION! FYI I HAD TO SPIKE THE MASHED POTATOES SALT, PEPPER, and SOME BUTTER FROM MY WIFES LOBSTER. This place is a real joke and I hope the owner sees this review and changes something for his sake.
