REVIEW: Go Inside Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean Restaurant …
Captain Jack’s – Restaurant des Pirates, Marne-la-Vallee, France
Reviews
Let’s start with the food. For a €55 meal, you expect something freshly prepared and high quality. Instead, it genuinely felt like microwaved food — bland, uninspired, and absolutely not worth the price. It’s shocking to pay that much and receive something that tastes like it came straight from a reheating tray.
The biggest issue, though, was the fish. It was full of large bones. Considering this restaurant is inside Disneyland and clearly caters to families and children, that’s a serious safety concern. Serving fish with multiple big bones in that setting is unacceptable.
The only redeeming feature is the atmosphere. The restaurant looks incredible and truly feels like you’re inside Pirates of the Caribbean. The theming is immersive, dark, and beautifully done — probably one of the best-looking restaurants in the park. Unfortunately, the food simply doesn’t live up to the setting.
Amazing decor. Deeply disappointing food. Definitely not worth €55.
We were seated after about ten minutes, given a menu which is very small and is basically fish or pork there’s a set menu for €55. The food arrived after a good 40 minutes, it came freezing cold. Sent one of the meals back, they clearly pinged it back in the microwave then brought it back to us – still cold and after warming chicken we wondered how many times it had been re microwaved – no offer of a new fresh meal – obviously doesn’t exist and it’s just frozen microwaved mess. Re warming chicken can cause salmonella! (Death!) no offer to take this off the bill as the meal was inedible the rice was rock hard and freezing cold.
We also ordered the jerk pork – vile the most disgusting thing I have ever put in my mouth – it definitely was not jerk pork / I’ve never had that texture before and there was no taste. Carrot was blended cold mush and overall it was disgusting the meal cost us over €150 and it is daylight robbery. I would not recommend here it was THAT BAD we had two more restaurants booked in at the park but didn’t bother going as what was advertised Is not what you actually get , the staff are also rude , not polite and ignore you , over and over again. I would not recommend if I could give 0 stars I would it has ruined one of my favourite films as an experience. Disney do better this is shoddy and needs new staff and Decent food.
Next followed a 25 minute wait before any server even came up to us to take our order.
Again, disappointingly the main advertised pirate themed cocktail was not available (not communicated before arriving)
Our staff were very friendly however when the orders were finally taken and food arrived, we had to request the complimentary bread basket (that we could see on all other tables)
To finish the meal off, the Wahai fish main was not properly cooked, being cold and raw in the centre. This was returned to the kitchen. No apology from the chef or offer to remove it from the bill. This was removed from the final bill, but only after we refused to pay it. Our family member now with major concerns of food poisoning. We will
Not return to this restaurant sadly. A very disappointing experience, to a restaurant that is so hard to book a table at. Overpriced, poor food, poor service, we do not recommend. Save your money.
Our server, D, was horrible and rude. She was working five tables near us two two-tops, one four-top, one six-top, and us (three-top). After we were seated, we heard the other tables loudly complaining about our slow and rude server.
After more than 15 minutes sitting at our table, we still hadn’t been greeted let alone drink order taken. I looked around and one of the two-tops silently pointed out who our server was supposed to be while rolling their eyes and making a face. I finally catch her attention, and she walks over.
We gave her our full order. Three Cokes, tap water, appetizers, main courses, and desserts. She walks off.
After about ten minutes, she comes back with the appetizers, two Cokes, and a bottle of mineral water. Before we can say anything, she walks off. I look around to find her. Both two-tops are looking for her too. We all have this look like what the heck.
I finally flag her down after ten minutes and let her know we wanted tap water. She gave us a nasty look, snatched the mineral water and took off.
By this time, we notice that the original two-top that pointed her out to us has left. We heard someone say they dined and dashed. The other two-top finally got water, but ended up leaving before eating. The four-top was complaining to one of the people with an earpiece. From that point on, another server was taking care if them.
A little over an hour after we initially sat down, our server plopped a bottle of water down and took off again. We never had an opportunity to say anything to her. Our appetizer plates were completely empty by this time.
Time passes once again. Water bottle was empty and appetizer plates were empty. Still no server. We finally had enough. I approached a person with an earpiece and let him know that we just wanted to pay for what we ate and leave. I also let him know that we shouldn’t have had to wait for over an hour for water. He was polite and wanted to investigate the issue, but I told him we didnt trust our server and just wanted to leave.
D shows up with our ticket. Rude and angry. No apologies. No explanation. Just an attitude.
I know others have had a wonderful experience at Captain Jack’s. I just wish ours was too.
The atmosphere was so cool and immersive. The lights were low and you could see people on the boat ride going down the river. My only issue with the atmosphere was that because it was in an enclosed space with water it was a little damp and quite cold.
The menu was Caribbean food and I had the vegetable Caribbean curry, which was really nice and comforting I would highly recommend it!
The servers were lovely and accommodating and for my birthday we got the birthday dessert which was a Mickey Mouse cake and they brought it out with candles and sang which was really nice.
It was our first meal at Disneyland so the price was very jarring but I do feel it was worth it for this experience, I also had one of their special cocktails and it was really good.
I would recommend this place for the fun laid-back setting and good food.
After riding the legendary Pirates of the Caribbean, I spotted Captain Jack’s – Restaurant des Pirates just nearby — and it did not disappoint.
The whole restaurant is pirate-themed, with a dark, mysterious Caribbean vibe. What makes it special is the view: you’re literally dining next to the ride, watching boats float by as if you’re inside the story. Super cool atmosphere!
The menu includes both à la carte and set options. The food was tasty and satisfying — just what I needed after walking all day.
Tip: Try to make a reservation if you’re visiting during peak season. I went on an off-peak day, so I got a table without waiting too long.
Highly recommended if you love pirates, cool ambiance, and unique dining experiences. ⚓️
The main drawback, however, was the long waiting time. After being seated, we waited about 25 minutes before our order was taken, and then another 30 minutes until the food arrived. Plan for a long visit: count on spending a little over two hours from the moment you enter until you leave if you choose to dine here.
