Social Profile:

At our Plano, TX location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Restaurant looked nice and clean through the windows, even though the dining area was closed at 9pm. Service was super friendly, but the food was a zero. I grew up on Captain D’s and remember it being great. I don’t think the kitchen did anything wrong (the food was hot and fresh, prepared well) but the flavor was just not there. Food tasted bitter, sauces were unimpressive and didn’t help the food. Hush puppies were good, though, and so was the cheesecake (strawberry topping tasted processed to death though). The nostalgia runs deep, but I’ll keep my memories and eat at LJS instead from now on.

Don’t go drive thru if you like sauce! doesn’t matter if you order the smallest meal or the biggest platter their only giving 2 sauces period!! even tho they’re free inside and this comes from the manager herself even tho they close the lobby 2 hours early i wouldn’t recommend going late or drive thru. the food is good that’s why I come here but this my first experience in the drive thru and honestly it disappointing, the food still came fresh but dam can I get some cocktail with my shrimp

First time here at Captain D’s. I was influenced by belongs to eat and was left. Highly disappointed. Everything lacked flavor. There was also hair in my french fries. The condiment station had old sauces that were a few days old per the lady behind the register. Everything kind of had a funky taste. Even the sweet tea. Very odd. I can definitely say I will not be back. There is a long silvers about four minutes east that is so much better. And less expensive. $18 for one person seems a bit excessive for fast food in this area. Lobby was clean but their TV was broken.

My husband and I went to the Plano location and were standing outside the lobby while an employee was right next to the door cleaning. We knocked multiple times and were completely ignored. There was no sign posted saying the lobby was closed, and the store hours show open until 11 PM, which made it even more confusing.
I then went through the drive-thru, and the same employee I think her name was Ashley helped me as if nothing had happened. When I mentioned that we had been knocking, she said the lobby closes at 8 PM and showed no concern or apology. Because of this experience, we didn’t order anything and won’t be returning to this location. Horrible customer service.

First time here. Customer service to start off with is fantastic. I ordered the hand breaded chicken add on and ask for seasoning on it they said sure thing. I also got a tilapia and an Oreo cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. They also had Louisiana hot sauce for Dine in and to go packs. All for less than $20 which is great. Filled me up didn’t have room for their oysters so I’m getting those tomorrow! My new go to place for lunch.

The food and service were ok. I spent $18 for a platter , but I got full. Everything was fresh, so I give them that..
The only reason I would give them 3 stars is because they put a coupon sheet in my bag, with expired coupons from May. Either they will honor the coupons or I guess they thought it would make me come back, then tell me they are expired and hope since I drove all the way over that I would stay and order??

Thanks for reaching out and letting me know!

Fish was super outstanding! Do not know what LGS’s did with where they are now sourcing their fish but each one of my pieces of fish were formidable pieces of fish, and very tasty too! Very very good quality fish filets and the breading was excellent too. The Hush Puppies were excellent as well. They have always been good but I’d almost swear that they were actually a bit better even. I like that they now have the Waffle Style fries now. The Green Beans were okay. They’ve always overcooked their Green Beans so by the time you get to eat them most of the taste and food value is cooked out of them, plus I’d say that the meat fat flavoring that used to be a bit tasteful is no longer present in the Green Beans either! But, like I said the most important part of going to a principally “fish themed” fast food restaurant which is for the FISH was outstanding. Whoever they are currently sourcing their fish through, they need to keep! The dining area has the stigma of being old and a bit worn out. I am not saying adopt the crazy minimalist decor that seems to be the modern thing to do, but at least fix the old dilapidated look of the place and present new items on the menu from time to time to keep it fresh and exciting so LGS’s doesn’t get stigmatized by looking overly dated as old! Keeping a franchise restaurant fresh and somewhat new is essential to regular patronage by the general public!

Loved the catfish and lobster rolls. Food continued to be great. Fried okra was good today.

Concern – bathrooms not working! Wait staff person lethargic, no greeting, maybe having a bad day

This place has nice owner and employees and I always get the lemon pepper salmon and shrimp skewer, & veggies are usually great. ** Tonight, though, I will add… the green beans were quite too salty for my liking, so I couldn’t eat but a couple of small bites. They should scale back THE SALT for the beans.
Sometimes, also……. the coleslaw is a little… strange…. But most of the time, it’s good.
