At our Fairview Heights, IL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Kids working here with attitudes and when the manager is asked for she isn’t much nicer. The server tried to bring me a $4 potato because they ran out of fries. I agreed to pay for an upcharge, not a whole bag of potatoes. The boy turns around talking about “we can’t do nothing with that”. Why not? Because the food hasn’t even been brought to me. It hasn’t left the counter. The manager was nice at first but then got snotty and pushed my food towards me and walked away. She don’t even know what was said or what happened. Especially how rude her staff is. All three of them were unprofessional. I’m not at work. However I act doesn’t make a difference. You’re the one that needs to keep it together. I didn’t act stupid and I could have. The person behind me threw a fit and stormed out cussing too. ♀️ The lady at the table next to me is complaining about how they don’t have any sour cream and nobody told her. I’ve seen two people walk out. Another get a refund. And I don’t think they have gotten a drive-thru order correct since I’ve been sitting here eating with the amount of people that have walked in with food and a complaint. This place is a circus. It’s actually kind of entertaining.

Stopped in to pick up an order I placed in the mobile app. The place looked clean and the young man at the counter was very pleasant and had a smile on his face. I told him I was picking up a mobile order and that I needed to place an additional order. He took my order and then began bagging my mobile order. He kept my mobile order warning while waiting on my additional order. When leaving he thanked me and wished me a nice evening. Rarely see this type of courtesy anymore. I’ll definitely order from here again.

Ok, it was Friday evening, we waited 45 minutes for our order. Dome of the food was warm, some was cold, staff was courteous, but I’m not in a hurry to go back.

Told them I wanted my fish well done, and they went above and beyond by setting the whole building on fire! The workers were great; they torched the building to make sure I had crispy fish! When you want blackened fish, make sure you go to this one, because they’ll burn the place down to make sure your order is nice and thoroughly cooked! They went above and beyond to make sure the order was the blackest of black by burning the entire building down! I mean sure, the dining room now smells of smoke, and the windows are full of soot, but man alive is it great to get some blackened fish like that! For real, this is the third building in this location, as all three have now burned down. Seriously, is this location cursed to have had THREE buildings burn down like this? Did you build on an ancient burial ground, or something? How do you explain three times (1996, 2005, 2025) you had buildings that all burned down?? I am at a loss for words.

Be warned, i got the 2 piece fish and 6 piece shrimp dinner. As i was eating a piece of the fish I noticed the taste and texture wasn’t the same as all the other times before. I thought maybe they gave me 2 pieces of their chicken. Never had their chicken so i wasn’t sure what i was eating. I took the dinner plate with the fish back up to the employee to show him the pieces and I was told that they’ve changed the kind of fish that they normally use. He told me other customers complained about the same thing. With that being said i will not be back. I did not like the new flavor and texture. Not a smart move on behalf of Captain D’s by not telling me there was a different type of fish or supplier.

I am so impressed with the service, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the accuracy of my orders. It doesn’t even smell like food when you walk in, that’s how clean it is. Every employee I’ve come into contact with has been extremely friendly, they go through each item of your order to make sure it’s accurate before letting you leave the store!

First of all, there was a couple in Captain D’s trying to get a refund because they tried to swap out something in their order after it was brought out to them. They were saying their chicken tasted weird. The manager who was working up front, I don’t know her name, took their order and slammed it into the trash. They did get their refund, but it was just the way that she reacted that was very unprofessional and upsetting. Then, the entire time we were in there, she was horribly rude to everyone that came in to pick up their food. She would make smart remarks and just have the worst tone and attitude with everyone. Also, when we were in there, she was yelling at her staff and workers the entire time. Overall, this is probably one of the worst experiences that I’ve had at this Captain D’s. It has gotten worse over the years and their food just isn’t the same. I probably won’t be returning here unless something changes.

Went in on 11/9 and was greeted immediately.The young lady taking the order was extremely helpful and friendly. After we received our food this same young lady went around and made sure everything was okay. Service was A++++ and the food was good as well.

The absolute worst food I’ve had from captain d’s. The fish, chicken and hush puppies were all very overcooked. Tasted like it was cooked early and put back in grease when ordered. Disgusting. And, to make matters worse, they would not answer their phone to hear my complaint. I want my money back, all $69.30 worth.
